Cars on the Road: Diana Geardado (Color Changers)

It's Halloween eve! Tonight I’m continuing my documentation of the latest “spooky” cars in my collection in celebration of the Halloween season. This time, I'm checking out this "color changers" Diana Geardado!

As shown in the screenshot above, Diana briefly appears in Lights Out—the second episode of Cars on the Road—during the ghost dance party scene.

Characters in the “Color Changers” line maintain Mattel's signature 1:55 scale, but are made of plastic instead of diecast metal. Diana hasn’t yet been released as a diecast in the mainline series, so this version is a great stand-in for now. Who knows? It might be the only version we ever get.

Including a ghost car as a color changer was a clever idea on Mattel's part. I actually wish they did more of them! With a splash of ice-cold water, Diana transforms from her “alive” black look to a ghostly green, perfectly capturing her appearance in the short.

Diana isn't available in stores at this point, so if you want to add this one to your Pixar Cars collection, I'd suggest checking out current eBay listings. Let me know what you think down in the comments! Would you like to see more ghost car color changers?

Until tomorrow!

Cars: Mummy Costume Luigi and Ghost Costume Guido Diecasts (2-Pack)

Just two more sleeps until the spookiest day of the year! Today I’m continuing my documentation of the latest “spooky” cars in my collection in celebration of the Halloween season. This time, I'm checking out this Mummy Costume Luigi and Ghost Costume Guido diecast 2-pack from 2021!

You might be wondering: where did Luigi and Guido ever appear dressed up in Halloween costumes? Well, as shown above, these diecasts are based on their appearance in the 2012 Pixar Cars board book Truck or Treat! I also included a photo of a Halloween Disney gift card below, which features the same character renders. Dracula Mater was released as a diecast in 2013 based on his Cars 2 appearance, so if only Mattel would release a "speedy devil" Lightning McQueen, we'd have a complete set of characters from this promotional material!

This 2-pack is fun, festive and unique. And yes, both of their [plastic] costumes are removable!  It was originally available in 2021 singles case L and has not been released since. If you're still looking to add this 2-pack to your Cars diecast collection, be sure to check out current eBay listings—mind you, it's a bit pricey now.

Last note: Mater has also been seen as a Frankenstein monster in Pixar Halloween promo images, so let's cross our fingers we see that get made into a diecast one day as well! That would be fangtastic.

Cars on the Road: Lisa & Louise Diecasts (2-Pack)

Welcome, foolish readers! Tonight I’m continuing my look at the latest “spooky” cars in my collection for the Halloween season—this time focusing on this fantastic Lisa and Louise diecast 2-pack!

As shown in the screenshot above, Lisa and Louise appear in Lights Out, the second episode of Cars on the Road. They’re two of the episode’s most prominent ghosts—and an unmistakable nod to The Shining’s eerie twins, Alexie and Alexa Grady.

I absolutely love all the ghost cars Mattel has released so far—they’re such a unique and exciting addition not only to Mattel’s ever-growing line of diecasts, but to the Cars lore as a whole! Keep an eye out for at least one more here soon.

This pack was released in 2023 as part of 2-Packs Case T. If you missed it at the time of availability, you can check out current eBay listings HERE (runs around $20 as of this post).

That's all for tonight—thanks for dropping by! Look for more Cars reviews right here soon.

Cars on the Road: Mallory Karhut Diecast

Hi all! Tonight I'm continuing on with documenting the most recently released "spooky" cars in my collection—as a tie-in to the Halloween season—and this time I'm taking a quick look at Mallory Karhut!

As seen in the screenshot above, Mallory appears in Lights Out—the second episode of Cars on the Road. She is a ghost who suddenly emerges from a portrait on the wall while McQueen explores the eerie Destiny Hotel in the dead of night—then continues to creep up behind him with Logan Gearsall and one other unnamed ghost car. She can later be seen during the ballroom dance party scene.

I absolutely love all the ghost cars Mattel has released so far—they’re such a unique and exciting addition, not just to Mattel’s ever-growing assortment, but to the lore of Cars as a whole! Look for at least one more here soon.

Mallory was originally released in Mattel's 2023 Singles Case K and L. While she's not available at this point, you can check out current eBay listings if you're interested in adding this spooky specter car to your collection. And good news—she's very affordable.

Well, that's all I have for today! Let me know what you think in the comments below and be sure to check back here soon for more updates.

Cars on the Road: Tractor Ghost Diecast

Hey everyone! I'm continuing on with documenting the most recently released "spooky" cars in my collection—as a tie-in to the Halloween season—and today I'm taking a quick look at Tractor Ghost!

As seen in the screenshot above, Tractor Ghost briefly appears in Lights Out—the second episode of Cars on the Road—when McQueen stumbles upon a ballroom ghost dance party (possibly inspired by Disney's The Haunted Mansion). This diecast was released last year as part of Mattel's 2024 Singles Case D.

Unfortunately, I somehow lost the photo I took of Tractor Ghost in its packaging (and it's since been opened), so this loose shot will have to do. That said, this is a fantastic diecast—such a fun and unique addition to the collection! I've been loving all the ghost car releases over the past couple years.

If you're still looking to add Tractor Ghost to your Cars collection, be sure to check out current eBay listings HERE. Happy collecting!

Cars on the Road: Logan Gearsall Diecast

Continuing on with documenting the most recently released "spooky" cars in my collection—as a tie-in to the Halloween season—today I'm taking a brief look at Logan Gearsall!

As seen in the screenshot above, Logan appears in Lights Out—the second episode of Cars on the Road. He is a ghost Model-T who suddenly emerges from a portrait on the wall while McQueen explores the eerie Destiny Hotel in the dead of night. I absolutely love all the ghost cars Mattel has released—they’re such a unique and exciting addition, not just to Mattel’s ever-growing assortment, but to the lore of Cars as a whole! Look for more here soon.

Logan was originally released in Mattel's 2024 Singles Case L. While he's not available at this point, you can check out current eBay listings if you're interested in adding this spooky specter car to your collection. And good news—he's pretty affordable.

Well, that's all I have for today! Let me know what you think in the comments below and be sure to check back here soon for more updates.

Cars on the Road: Randy Diecast

Hi all! Long time no see. I'm really hoping to find time to be back here a bit more (as I have SO much to share from over the last couple years—especially cars. So many cars), but life has just been beyond busy lately. I sure miss being here blogging my Pixar collection every day like it use to be!

Since I want to start slowly catching up with documenting my Mattel Pixar Cars collection on here, I thought what better way to restart things than with some supernatural-themed cars of late—it is spooky season after all! Today I'm taking a quick look at Randy from Cars on the Road

As seen in the screenshot above, Randy appears in Lights Out (Episode 2 of COTR) and is the founder (and receptionist) of Destiny Hotel.

Randy was originally released in Mattel's 2023 Case L and appeared in a few subsequent cases as well. He shares a similar hearse model with Steve Hearsell.

Since Randy isn't currently available, your best bet is checking out current eBay listings (though he is pretty pricey these days—around $30). That's all the info I have today! Until next time, which is hopefully soon. Thanks for dropping by!
