Finding Dory: Disney Store "Tsum Tsum" Plush Carrier Set

finding dory tsum tsum set four

Last Tuesday (Dec. 7), I gave you a detailed look at the brand new Finding Nemo mini Tsum Tsum collection released exclusively at the Disney Store. That very same day also saw the release of another fun item that hit stores and online, which you may have missed... this fantastic Finding Dory Tsum Tsum carrier set of four!

Expanding on the initial Finding Dory [set of nine] mini Tsums which made their debut back in May (see original post HERE), this set adds three new characters and one new variant of a previously released character to the mix. Housed in a medium sized (9 1/2" long) plush tote featuring the likeness of Dory herself, this set includes mini (3 1/2" long) Tsum Tsums of Charlie and Jenny (Dory's parents), baby Dory and Destiny (now with a new winking expression).

Just lift the velcro flap on the top of the tote to reveal the four mini Tsums, who fit snugly inside!

Let's take a closer look at how cute these guys are...

As usual, these (including the tote) are made from soft materials with embroidered features. This full set retails for $34.95, which is a tad high if you ask me, but hey—I bought it anyway and it was worth it. I couldn't resist!

This will make a perfect Christmas gift for any Dory fan. Be sure to pick it up at your local Disney Store or online HERE!

Finding Dory: Disney Store Swimming Destiny Figure

finding dory disney store swimming destiny figure

Note- Today I'll be repeating a lot of my thoughts from last Saturday's post, since most of it applies here.

From The Disney Store (also found at Disney Parks from what I've seen online), here we have their exclusive Finding Dory "Swimming Destiny" figure! This was released back in early May of this year.

Now I didn't get the entire Disney Store collection of swimming figures (since I opted in for the Zuru RoboFish collection instead, which are similar toys), but I did end up getting a couple of characters that Zuru never produced...one of them being Destiny here (the other bring Hank, which was Saturday's post).

A few months back I realized, "wow out of all the Destiny toys in my collection, none of them actually swim"; so once this figure went on sale at the Disney Store, it was a done deal for me. The original price was a steep $14.95, but I believe I got this one for around $8.00. Three AAA batteries are required and included.

This is a swimming, water activated toy. But unlike the Zuru Robofish, the figures in this collection talk as well! This Destiny speaks nine phrases from/inspired by the film:
  • "Whooooaaaaaa...whoooa!"
  • "That came out of nowhere. Whoa, whooaa,...oh no, here we go!"
  • "Dory, it's me Destiny!"
  • "Uhhhhh, kind of tough for a whale to travel around here."
  • "Uh, well shark to be exact."
  • "Well, technically shark but let's be honest—who likes sharks."
  • "But it's not like I have any teeth."
  • "Don't bail on me Bailey!"
  • "I am a whale shark!"
I have to say, I wish some of those lines above (of her clarifying that she's actually a type of shark) stayed in the movie. I always thought that a whale shark thinking that she's a whale was a funny and clever idea, but her character wasn't executed like that in the film at all. Having those lines in Finding Dory would have cleared up a couple things, but that's just a random nitpick about the film and has nothing to do with the toy of course.

To activate "play mode" (swimming feature), hold down the button on Destiny's back for 15 seconds and wait for a beeping sound. Place Destiny in the water and watch her swim! Simple as that.

Note: While in play mode, Destiny will speak all nine phrases in a row without stopping when taken out of the water (for whatever reason). To revert back to, what I'll call "out of water mode" after water play (so she only says one phrase at a time), hold the button again for 15 seconds until you hear the same beeping sound.

Destiny's movements are propelled by a little fan behind her tail fin. She moves really quite well and is actually pretty fast. No complaints there!

Though I've been swamped and haven't had the time I thought I would to make product demonstration videos (at least until after the holidays), you can still find other videos of her in action on YouTube (check out one HERE).

This has since sold out on the Disney Store, but you can still find Destiny online on either eBay or Amazon using the direct link below.

Cars: Craig Faster

pixar cars craig faster

My ever expanding (and never ending) Disney·Pixar Cars collection continues today with another brand new, never before released 1:55 scale diecast release from Mattel...Craig Faster! He is part of the 2016 "Rust-eze Racing" sub-series (#9/12).

As shown in the screenshot above, Craig is a rusty monster truck seen in the back of the Rust-eze sponsor tent after the film's opening race.

This is a superb car. Well done Mattel! Not only is it a unique body style (there aren't many Cars monster truck diecasts out there), but the rusty/dirty paint application is fantastic. Just look at those details—

FUN FACT: "Craig Faster" is yet another example of a car who's name was modeled after a Pixar employee's. He's named after Craig Foster of Pixar's animation/art department (Cars, Ratatouille, Wall·E, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, etc.) who's currently hard at work on Cars 3.

I found this one at both Target and Walmart this past Saturday, so he seems to be hitting pretty hard right now. Be sure to check your local stores for availability and best of luck on the hunt!

Toy Story: Buzz Lightyear Minifigure (Disney LEGO Blind Bags Series 1)

buzz lightyear disney lego minifigure

Clear back in late April/early May of this year, LEGO debuted series one of their Disney blind bag minifigures collection— an assortment of 18 classic Disney/Pixar characters to collect and trade! If you're not familiar with it, here's who's included in the line (more official info HERE):
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Donald Duck
  • Daisy Duck
  • Alice
  • Cheshire Cat
  • Peter Pan
  • Captain Hook
  • Maleficent
  • Ariel
  • Ursula
  • Genie
  • Aladdin
  • Stitch
  • Mr. Incredible
  • Syndrome
  • Buzz Lightyear
  • Pizza Planet Alien
Of course I was just interested in getting the four Pixar characters. I was able to snag Mr. Incredible and Syndome a while back (check out my full post on them HERE) and then, just yesterday, I finally picked up a Buzz Lightyear.

Inside the bag you'll find a series one checklist, seven minifigure pieces and a display stand brick. Check out Buzz all assembled and ready for action below!

I honestly had totally forgotten about getting this figure, hence the seven month gap in between this one and my original post. Yesterday while I was working at the Disney Store however, I was reminded when we got a brand new case of this series in stock. A fellow castmember of mine, Mike (a big thanks to him), is brilliant at deciphering who's in each bag and I was able to enlist his help. He felt several bags and then assured me that this was the one. When my shift finished, I was eager to make the purchase to see if he was right (never doubted you for a second, Mike). I ripped it right open and, well, needless to say here he is! Fantastic.

The look of this figure is quite a bit different than the Buzz Lightyear minifigure released in the original 2010 Toy Story LEGO sets (seen HERE). That made this one a must have for me! I really like the look of this Buzz, perhaps even more than the first design. And again, I love how each minifigure in this series feels like a collector's piece with the included black display stand.

You can find these at most major toy retailers (I've seen them at Toys R Us, Walmart, Target, etc.), as well as the LEGO store (online HERE), Disney Parks and the Disney Store. Retail is $3.99.

Best of luck on the hunt and have a blast!

Finding Dory: Disney Store Swimming Hank Figure

From The Disney Store (also found at Disney Parks from what I've seen online), here we have their exclusive Finding Dory "Swimming Hank" figure! This was released back in early May of this year.

Now I didn't get the entire Disney Store collection of swimming figures (since I opted in for the Zuru RoboFish collection instead, which are similar toys), but I did end up getting a couple of characters that Zuru never produced...one of them being Hank here!

A few months back I realized, "wow out of all the Hanks in my collection, none of them actually swim" (though I guess you can barely count the pull string bath toy); so once this Hank went on sale at the Disney Store, it was a done deal for me. The original price was a steep $14.95, but I believe I got this one for around $8.00.

Three AAA batteries are required and included.

This is a swimming, water activated toy. But unlike the Zuru Robofish, the figures in this collection talk as well! This Hank speaks nine phrases from the film:
  • "Suck it, bipeds!"
  • "No memories, no problems."
  • "News flash: nobody's fine."
  • "Name's Hank."
  • "I just wanna live in a glass box alone, that's all I want."
  • "If I stay here, I'm gonna get released back to the ocean. And I have extremely unpleasant memories of that place!"
  • "Goodbye forever!"
  • "Alright, now don't get hysterical."
  • "Um, you were about to give me your tag!"

To activate "play mode" (swimming feature), hold down the button on Hank's back for 15 seconds and wait for a beeping sound. Place Hank in the water and watch him swim! Simple as that.

Note: While in play mode, Hank will speak all nine phrases in a row without stopping when taken out of the water (for whatever reason). Hank is propelled by a little fan underneath him. The movements are basic, but it works! You'll notice he'll move in spurts (he'll move a little bit and then stop, move a little and then stop...just like a real octopus). He's made from/covered in is a sticky, wiggly rubbery material, which adds a little realism both in and out of the water.

Though I've been swamped and haven't had the time I thought I would to make product demonstration videos (at least until after the holidays), you can still find other videos of him in action on YouTube (check out one HERE).

If you're looking to pick this one up, this is still available on the Disney Store's website (currently on sale for just $7.99), eBay or Amazon using the direct link below.

Finding Nemo: "Tsum Tsum" Mini Plush Collection

disney finding nemo tsum tsums

Yesterday for "Tsum Tsum Tuesday", the Disney Store debuted their brand new collection of Finding Nemo themed tsums featuring eight never before released characters! I would have had this post up yesterday, but my Disney Store work shift last night lasted until 1:30 a.m.; at any rate though, I was happy to at least secure my full set before my shift started. In fact, I was able to snag the very last Squirt in stock at our store! I felt very lucky— I had no idea this set was going to be that popular.

Speaking of the characters, let's dive right into who we have here. This is a fantastically colorful set featuring some really fun designs of Nigel (the pelican), Sheldon (the sea horse), Gill (the moorish idol fish), Pearl (the flapjack octopus), Squirt (the sea turtle), Deb/Flo (the damselfish), Bruce (the great white shark) and, the fish killer herself, Darla (cue the screeching music).

These plushies are part of the Tsum Tsum "mini" collection and are only about 3 1/3" in size. Like usual, they're soft with embroidered features and retail for $5.95 each. Let's take a closer look at each one, shall we?

If you're wondering why this set doesn't include the film's main characters Nemo, Dory and Marlin (as well as Crush and Mr. Ray), it's because they were already released earlier this year in the Finding Dory assortment (see my full full post HERE).

I also wanted to note that the original reveal for these back in the summer included a "mine, mine, mine" seagull. I wonder what happened and why that one was cancelled from the set? You can see it included in this photo.

From Gill's gimpy fin/scars to Darla's hilarious braces/headgear, I love all the subtle details of each one of these! Which character is your favorite design? I think I'd have to say either Bruce or Squirt if I had to choose (though Darla is pretty hilarious). You can pick them up at your local Disney Store today or visit their website HERE to purchase. They are a must have for any fan/collector of the Nemo franchise.

Finding Dory: "Swigglefish" Collection WAVE 3

finding dory swigglefish wave 3

Finding Dory Swigglefish are back for a third (and possibly final?) wave of brand new characters! Bandai Toys released the initial collection back in May and, as promised, a few more characters are now hitting shelves. To view my full write-up and overview of the line thus far, check out my original post right HERE and my wave two post HERE (as well as the truck playset and carry case). This collection has been one of my Finding Dory favorites, so I'm very happy that it's continuing.

To catch you up, here's some info on exactly what these are. These are the only Finding Dory figures that have "motion outside of the ocean" (As Bandai has stated). Each plastic "fish" (even though they're not all technically fish) has a wheel underneath which triggers a unique "swimming" movement when the character is rolled along a hard surface. They "swim" and they "wiggle"...you get it! They are about three to three to four inches in size. Note- these are not intended for water use.

In this new trio released a few weeks back (which I found at my local Target for $6.99 each), we have a new version of Hank (camouflaged white/clear; called "Tile Hank"), Crush and Baby (or toddler/little) Dory. They all look awesome!

Let's take a closer look at each one below-

Tile Hank
(In the film, Hank is seen camouflaged to look like white wall tile right before Dory meets him in quarantine. This figure is the same sculpt as the previous versions of Swigglefish Hank)

Crush
(I love the design of this one and how they decided to put him on his back! Makes for a unique look and movement)

(Can't have enough Baby Dory merch! This one's cuteness speaks for itself)

Here's the new cardback featuring wave three characters-

finding dory swigglefish wave 3

As usual, I had a lot of fun taking these out of the package to see how each one moves. I know it's been a while since I uploaded a video (my work schedule has been nuts), but I do plan on showing these (as well as wave two) in action as soon as possible. Stay tuned to my YouTube channel!

UPDATE: Video is now up at last! Check it out below.

According to the Bandai press release from earlier this year, there was suppose to be 18 Swigglefish figures launched in 2016. With these three added to the collection, that makes 15 so far. If the plan for 18 this year still stands, that means there are still three unknown characters set to be released in a wave four; however I haven't heard any news. Who could they be? Could they have been cancelled? Who would you want to see included? Stay tuned right here for more info soon.
