Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs by Jakks Pacific (Series 10)- Pixar Only

Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs by Jakks Pacific (Series 10)

You probably know by now that I'm a collector of these Tsum Tsum Mystery Packs by Jakks Pacific (specifically just the Pixar characters). They're so cute and so fun to display! Well, at long last, here's my review of SERIES 10—which started hitting stores back in early March. They took a while to reach my area here on the east coast (just found them at Target a couple weeks ago), but I was lucky enough to find a full case to pick through regardless.

The three Pixar characters included this time around are Mater (Cars), Dory (Finding Dory) and Carl Fredricksen (Up). The nine Disney (non-Pixar) characters, which are also pretty cute, are Oogie Boogie (Nightmare Before Christmas), Evil Queen (Snow White), Ugly Duckling (Lio & Stitch), Fauna (Sleeping Beauty), Gus (Cinderella), Hei Hei (Moana), Lumpy (Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie), Mrs. Potts (Beauty and the Beast) and Cinderella.

In Series 9, Jakks Pacific introduced accessories with rolling wheels to this line (which hadn't been done before). That continues here with three of the characters. Take a look at all of them on the back of the package below! You know the display pieces/accessories are mainly why I collect these, so I was so happy to see that these ones were just as fun and creative as ever. They never really disappoint!

Alrighty, that's plenty of introduction. Let's take a closer look at all these amazing characters unbagged and set up!

CARL
I'll admit right off the bat that this one might have to be my favorite. First of all, any merch from Up is not common these days—so it's refreshing to have something new! Secondly, I love anything having to do with Carl and those iconic balloons. The classic balloon cart accessory and the way the balloons clip onto Carl's back while he sits atop of it are just too cute. I also appreciate that the helium tanks were included on the back of the cart (nice detail) and Carl's tennis ball cane on his underside. This makes for the perfect display piece and will look great on my Up themed shelf.

MATER
Mater's display is fantastic as well! So many nice little movie accurate touches (I'm talking the hanging tires, the swinging hook, the license plates...). His "Tow Mater Towing & Salvage" sign was such a clever choice for his display piece. Mater can sit under it (like I have in my photo below) or on top of it.

DORY
Dory and her colorful brain coral home display stand are cute as well, despite being the most simple of the bunch. No assembly is required for this one—it's literally all just one piece. And check it out, Dory even has her orange transfer tag attached to her fin (which is another nice, subtle detail).

Note- If you missed my posts on any of the previous nine series, I'd recommend checking those out as well: Series 2 HERE, Series 3 HERE, Series 4 HERE, Series 5 HERE, Series 6 HERE, Series 7 HERE, Series 8 HERE and Series 9 HERE.

By the way, if this is your first experience with this collection, Mystery Stack Pack Tsums Tsums are always about 1.5" in size and are made of a soft vinyl/plastic material. Each pack in this series retails for $1.99. Best of luck as you try to track down your favorites! Again, Target and Walmart stores are your best bets right now to find them—so head to yours ASAP to check for availability.

Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below. Who's your favorite character from this series? Who do you hope to see in a future series down the road? I love to hear from you guys.

Toy Story: Woody Souvenir Boot (Disneyland Pixar Fest 2018 Exclusive)

toy story pixar fest woody boot cup

Howdy everyone! Following Thursday's post I did on the Pizza Planet Alien novelty straw I was able to get from Pixar Fest, here's another fun Disneyland/Pixar Fest exclusive item from the food and beverage category... this Toy Story Woody's boot souvenir cup! This glorious 8" tall plastic boot has since sold out (it was a very popular item that was gone within a week), but there could be restocks on the way.

This cup, of course modeled perfectly after Sheriff Woody's iconic boot design, was originally available at Disneyland's The Golden Horseshoe counter service restaurant (in Frontierland) with a root beer float inside for $17.49. And yes, calling it a "Boot Beer Float" became a thing. From what I've heard, you could also buy the boot filled with just soda OR on its own without anything inside at the Stage Door Cafe (also in Frontierland) for $15.99.

toy story pixar fest woody boot cup

One of the coolest details is that ANDY's name is written on the underside of the boot, just like in the film! This thing is just awesome. Basically just a big hunk of cheap plastic (I'll admit), but awesome.

toy story pixar fest woody boot cup

You can technically use this as a cup, sure, but I got it purely because I knew it would make a fantastic Toy Story shelf display piece. You can even go more practical and use it as a pen holder for you desk! Either way, this is such a cool Toy Story icon to have as part of my collection. I don't have anything else like it.

Stay tuned to my Twitter and Instagram feeds as I'll be posting any news I have about this getting restocked during the duration of Pixar Fest (which goes until September 3rd). If you'd rather just pick it up online, check out THIS DIRECT LINK to current eBay listings. Lastly, another huge thanks to my friend Paulina for grabbing this for me and sending it over!

Be sure to let me know your thoughts on this in the comment section below.

Cars 3: Minny & Van 2-Pack

Cars 3: Minny & Van 2-Pack

Hey everyone and welcome to another one of my Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast reviews! Tonight I'm taking a quick look at this Minny and Van 2-Pack, released on May 1st, 2017 (almost a year ago to the day). Both of these characters were welcomed re-releases for me, since I never ended up finding the original release of Minny (who's still pretty rare at this point) or Van (I do have the lenticular eyes version of him though).

Interestingly enough, neither Minny nor Van ever makes an appearance in Cars 3! Bummer right? The two of them obviously had a small, but memorable, role in the original Cars (as shown in the screen shot above) and then had a brief cameo at the end of Cars 2. I wonder if they possibly had a cameo in Cars 3 that was cut from the film late into production? What do you think? I would have liked to at least see them make an appearance after the credits like they did in Cars 1 (which reminds me— I also have the 2015 "Lost in the Desert" 2-Pack featuring these two based on that little end credits moment from the original film).

Cars 3: Minny & Van 2-Pack

Both of these are direct repacks of their original releases, but they look great! Van first hit shelves  around 2007/2008 as part of Mattel's World of Cars series. Minny (originally packed as "Mini", wonder why the spelling change?) was first available in 2009 as part of the Race O Rama collection (which was a continuation of the "World of Cars" series). I didn't start Cars collecting until 2011, hence why I missed both of these characters initially.

Take a closer look below!

Minny

Van
Cars 3: Minny & Van 2-Pack

I remember being so excited when this 2-pack hit shelves last May (since I had been wanting to get these characters together for years). Man, did Mattel overdo it with this one though! Now I'm so sick of seeing it. To this day, there are still countless packs of these hanging on store pegs (be it Walmart, Kmart, Target, Toys R Us...wherever). I have no idea what happened. All I know is way too many were produced and shipped out.

Anyway, if you somehow missed this set and are wanting to add this to your collection at this point, just pop into any store and I guarantee you'll find it. If you'd rather just pick it up online, check out current eBay listings HERE or the direct Amazon link below.

Happy hunting! Let me know your thoughts down in the comments.

Toy Story: "The Claw" Alien Novelty Straw (Disneyland Pixar Fest 2018 Exclusive)

disneyland pixar fest toy story alien straw

Pixar Fest, a celebration of all things Pixar happening right now at Disneyland & California Adventure (learn more HERE), kicked off on April 13th and will continue through the summer until September 3rd. And what would a Disneyland celebration be without TONS of exclusive merchandise to go along with it? Exactly. And boy does Pixar Fest offer a lot of new merch across countless categories. Man, I so wish I could be there! Hopefully I'll be able to make it this summer, but we'll see.

Anyway, out of all the limited merchandise that's there right now, it's the food and beverage novelty items that have really caught my eye—like this Toy Story Pizza Planet "The Claw" Alien curly straw, picked up by my good and oh so helpful friend Paulina! A huge thanks to her for snagging this and sending it across the country to me.

disneyland pixar fest toy story alien straw

How could I even resist this? First of all, I'm a big kid—so I still think curly straws like this are awesome. Secondly, and most importantly, that little alien figurine straw/backpack clip is out of this world cute! The way he's being grasped by "The Claw" and the way it dangles made this a must have for me. Plus it looks awesome on display when not in use. And at only $5.99? Why the heck not?

The straw is sturdy plastic and measures about 10" long. The little alien dude himself stands at about 2" tall and can be unclipped from the straw to be hung wherever.

You can find this right now at Disneyland's Redd Rockett's restaurant in Tomorrowland (which currently, just for Pixar Fest, has a Toy Story themed overlay and has been renamed "Alien Pizza Planet"). Be sure to pick it up if you're visiting the parks there anytime soon!

Cars 3: Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)

Cars 3 Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)

What's going on everyone?! Tonight I'm taking a look at yet another Cars 3 item that was released clear back in May of last year, something I honestly considered returning to the store for a while (which is why it's taken so long to get this post up). I decided to keep it though, so here's my review of the Toys R Us Exclusive Cars 3 "Mini Vehicles" 8-Piece Gift Set by Thinkway Toys.

OK I know this isn't off to the most positive start, but bear with me (when it comes down to it, I do like these). So I got this set around this time last year as I was initially attracted to the stylized designs of these little Cars 3 characters (you know I love stylized mini figurines). I figured they would look cute on display. And the thing is, they are definitely cute and I do like how they look overall! I don't really have any problem with the figures themselves. It's just that I couldn't believe I actually justified spending $29.99 for eight tiny plastic molded cars, even though I was paying with a Toys R Us gift card that I was given.

If you do the math, that's $3.75 per car (essentially as much as Mattel's larger metal/more detailed diecasts). This set should really be around $9.99 and is not worth more than that. Honestly though, I wouldn't usually mind that price point as much, but here's the thing: I was already collecting (and still collect) all these same characters from Mattel's 1:55 scale diecast line AND Mattel's diecast mini racers collection (which I also almost didn't collect, but I started those first and they're a little cheaper). It was all just adding up to be too much. Regardless though, I did end up keeping this set (as mentioned), but did not move forward with collecting the remainder of the line (which continued as blind bags—more on that below).

Cars 3 Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)

The eight characters included here in this set are Lightning McQueen, Jackson Storm, Miss Fritter, Dr. Damage, Smokey, Bobby Swift and Junior Moon (notice though that they got Junior's name wrong on the back of the package; for whatever reason he's listed as "Tucker Moon". Wonder where that came from?). Each car is just a smidge over an inch in size with no moving parts/rolling wheels.

Speaking of the lack of rolling wheels, that was a big negative for a lot of people with these (I've read a lot of reviews and that's the number one complaint I noticed). For me though, I'm totally cool with that aspect. I like that these are more "figurines" than toy cars (which allows them to be a bit more stylized and expressive in the way that they are posed). You just need to know before hand what to expect with these (which I did). I guess I can understand that if people were expecting toy cars that can roll around, that they would be disappointed. For me though, I already have other versions of these characters that roll, so these were a nice change.

Cars 3 Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)

Not long after this set came out, the line continued by way of blind bags (as mentioned earlier). In addition to the eight characters found within this 8-Piece set, the blind bags feature 11 more cars you can collect (for a total of 19): Dinoco Cruz Ramirez, Natalie Certain, Chick Hicks, Shannon Spokes, Arvy, Luigi, Louise Nash, Guido, Sally, Ramone and Sheriff. Though I didn't end up grabbing these, you can check them out in the press images below.

Each surprise pack retails for around $2.99, so that would have been another $30 to complete the full line (a total of over $60 for these things if I were to finish getting them all).

Cars 3 Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)
Cars 3 Mini Vehicles 8-Piece Gift Set (Thinkway Toys)

All in all, when it comes down to it, I guess my main gripe is just the price of these characters (for what they are). I don't have a problem with little cheap plastic mini figures if they look cool like these, but I just wish they were priced more appropriately. Thinkway Toys is known for their overpriced products though.

To wrap things up, I do like these little guys. And they do look great on display as I pictured! If you're interested, you can find this gift set at Toys R Us still to this day (hurry before they all close). The blind bags can be found there too, as well as at Target and Walmart. So what are your thoughts? I would love to hear what you think about this collection in the comments below. Did you collect them? Which one is your fave?

Cars 3: Disney Store Reusable Tote Bag

cars 3 disney store resusable tote gift bag

Hey everyone! To keep things real simple around here tonight, I just wanted to briefly document this Cars 3 reusable tote bag that was available last year (exactly around this time) exclusively at the Disney Store and ShopDisney.com. I know I should have posted on this a long time ago (since it's sold out at this point), but I guess there were just so many products to review last year that this one got pushed aside.

One of these bags always comes out right around the release of every new Pixar film and I always seem to go for them (I guess because they're pretty useful and super cheap). Like usual, this is a roomy medium sized bag (15'' H x 12 3/4'' W x 6 1/2'' D) with reinforced fabric handles and plenty of space inside for goodies. It's also eco-friendly, given that it's made from 80% recycled materials. Whether you're using this for shopping, as a gift bag or just as place to store your Cars 3 merch in (diecast vehicles and other toys), this bag can come in handy for any fan of the film.

Check out the other angles of the tote below! Cruz, Lightning and Jackson take center stage.

cars 3 disney store resusable tote gift bag

These bags always have great designs and this one is no exception. Love the colors and minimal graphics!

cars 3 disney store resusable tote gift bag
cars 3 disney store resusable tote gift bag

I remember last year at my birthday party, this was used as a gift bag for some other presents—but it was also a gift in and of itself. I now use it to stuff a bunch of my Cars 3 toys in! If you're a Cars fan looking to pick this bag up for your collection, there is one on eBay right now for around $8. Retail was originally only $2.95.

Ka-Chow! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Wall·E & Eve Earth Day 2018 T-Shirt (BoxLunch Exclusive)

Wall·E & Eve Earth Day 2018 T-Shirt BoxLunch Exclusive

Happy Earth Day everyone! Yesterday here on the blog, I started my celebrating a little early by posting on the BoxLunch exclusive limited release Wall·E Funko "POP!" figure (see post HERE if you missed it) and also promised one more exciting item to come. Well, here it is! Check out this awesome Wall·E and Eve Earth Day men's tee, available now at BoxLunch (online and in stores).

For us Disney/Pixar fans, it doesn't get much cuter than stylized graphics of Wall·E and Eve holding hands atop of planet earth. So yes...I absolutely LOVE the design of this tee! But wait, there's more. Aside from the fact that dark grey tees are my favorite to wear, this shirt also feels great (super soft; 50/50 cotton poly blend), has a nice fit AND is made from 50% recycled materials. It literally has everything going for it.

Wall·E & Eve Earth Day 2018 T-Shirt BoxLunch Exclusive

If you need this in your life as much as I did, be sure to pick it up online HERE or in stores if you're lucky enough to live near a BoxLunch (unlike me). I can't recommend it enough for all you Wall·E fans out there, so my suggestion is to hurry and grab it before it's gone. I've been wearing mine all day today and I already feel like this is going to be one of my new favorite tees to throw on during the upcoming summer.

Retail price is $28.90, but remember: for every $10 you spend in-store and online st BoxLunch, they help provide a meal secured by Feeding America® on behalf of local member food banks. As they say, "get some, give back!"

Lastly, another HUGE thanks to my friends over at BoxLunch Gifts for sending this on over for me to photograph and review for you guys. They seriously have some of the best Disney/Pixar clothing and collectibles around (I'm talking really unique options), so if you haven't yet, definitely check out their site HERE and follow them on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook...).

Wall·E Funko "POP!" Review (2018 BoxLunch Earthday Exclusive)

boxlunch earth day wall-e funko pop

I don't think there could be a better way to celebrate Earth Day here on the blog this weekend than to share with you some of the AMAZING new Wall·E BoxLunch Exclusives available right now—starting today with this adorable limited edition Wall·E Funko POP! This special release just dropped on April 16th in stores and online and, as expected, Disney·Pixar fans (such as myself) have been going crazy for it! Everyone's favorite trash compacting robot has never looked cuter.

Besides the fact that this "POP!" is utterly adorable and perfect in ever way possible, it's extra cool because the vinyl figure himself is actually made from (in observance of Earth Day) 20% recycled material, while the box is 80% recycled material for conscious collecting! The blister/window box is PET material and is 100% recyclable. How cool right? I love the overall earthy look of the packaging—I usually open my "POP!" figures and toss the boxes (I know, some of you may say blasphemy to that), but I think I might have to keep this one.

Wall·E here is number 400 in the massive Disney/Pixar Funko "POP!" line. That's a lot of POPs. It's also crazy to think that the original Wall·E and Eve Funkos were numbers 44 and 45 and were only my second blog post ever—clear back on July 1st, 2013 (almost five years ago)! I was a man of few words back then (see what I mean by checking out that post HERE ;). Funko has come along way with their designs as well! They keep getting better and better.

Let's take a closer look at this cutie out of the box!

boxlunch earth day wall-e funko pop

Wall·E is one of my favorite Pixar films, so this was an essential one to get for me. It doesn't get much more iconic than Wall·E holding the plant in the boot, so that was an amazing design choice here—one I hadn't even considered until I saw it! And like the character himself, I love this figure's expressiveness. They really captured his innocent and curious nature with so few details.

boxlunch earth day wall-e funko pop

Unfortunately since I started this post, this figure has sold out online (and is most likely sold out in stores as well—though it doesn't hurt to check). Your best bet in snagging one at this point is by visiting THIS direct link to current eBay listings and seeing if you can get one for a decent deal. I wish you the best of luck on the hunt!

I hope you've enjoyed this detailed look! Stay tuned to tomorrow as I have one more exciting Earth Day item to share with you... :) In the mean time, go ahead and shout out any of your thoughts or questions in the comments below! I'd love to hear any additional insights you might have.

Cars 3: Strip Weathers AKA "The King" & Jeff Gorvette 2-Pack

cars 3 the king diecast

What's going on Cars fans!? Here's another 2017 Cars 3 Mattel 1:55 scale diecast review for ya'll...this time it's a 2-pack featuring Strip Weathers (AKA "The King") and the Cars 3 version of Jeff Gorvette! This set hit shelves last fall (around late September) and ended up being one of the rarer releases of the year. I actually never found this one at any normal stores in my area; luckily it was available at the Pixar Studio Store when I visited there in November though, so I picked it up there!

The King, of course, is a returning character from the original Cars. Everyone knows him! He has a couple brief appearances in Cars 3 (as Cal Weathers's crew chief during the opening race and then after the Florida 500 race at the end of the film—as shown in the screen shot above) and essentially just one line from what I remember ("Good comeback Cal."). Jeff Gorvette, who was a World Grand Prix racer seen in Cars 2, has a brief cameo near the end of Cars 3 (you can see him being interviewed just before the Florida 500—also shown in the screen shot above). If you remember, he shouts over to Lightning "Hey McQueen! Win one for us old guys." He's really the only reference to the events of Cars 2 in the entire film!

cars 3 the king diecast

Now as far as the diecasts, they're pretty basic. The King is literally the same as he's been in every one of his releases since 2006. I would liked to have seen at least a different facial expression or even a crew chief headset to mix things up. Oh well! Jeff Gorvette, however, is all new and has a completely new flame job look for Cars 3. This Jeff was never released as a single, so this 2-pack is currently the only way to get him. He looks pretty neat!

FUN FACT: Both of these characters are based on and voiced by real life former NASCAR drivers—"The King" is voiced by the legendary Richard Petty (who also has the nickname of "The King"), while Jeff Gordon (who I guess is also considered legendary at this point) lends his voice to Jeff Gorvette.

And here's a closer look at both of them out of the package !

Events: The Disney Store Incredibles 2 Merchandise Release—IN STORES NOW!

the disney store incredibles 2 merchadise release 2018

Cue the theme music! Merchandise for Incredibles 2 has officially hit Disney Stores nationwide as of this past Saturday (April 14th)—a full two days earlier than the planned street date of April 16th. I already gave my full thoughts and overview on this massive range of products in Saturday's post (right after all the merch went up for purchase on ShopDisney.com), but here I wanted to document the incredible in-store display! I was able to check it all out when I went into work today. It's one thing seeing all this stuff individually on the website; it's another to see it all displayed together in a giant themed section of the store. Totally magical!

I always like documenting the in-store setups here and giving you a peek at what's available whenever new Pixar merch hits...this time would be no different! This tradition began years ago when I was searching online for pictures of older Disney Store merchandise/displays from some of my favorite Disney and Pixar films. I wanted to reminisce, but couldn't find anything...so I began doing this for myself and for anyone down the road who may come across this post. So far since I started this blog, I've done this for Monsters University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Cars 3 and Coco. It's a bit of history! Maybe you're coming across this post years from now looking to take a trip down memory lane like I had been trying to do. Who knows?

the disney store incredibles 2 merchadise release 2018

Continuing on, everything you see here is also available online. It's nothing new if you've seen what's on ShopDisney already. In fact, the website has even more than what you see above and below (customizable tees/mugs/cell phone cases, pins, Legos, adult costumes, etc.).

Check it out! Full, in-depth reviews on a bunch of this stuff will be posted right here within the next month or so.

I'm glad I'm able to preserve what it all looks like there at these places before the stuff starts flying off the shelf (or goes to clearance) and ultimately sells out.
