Pixar News: Cars 3 Blu-Ray Date Announced!

when is cars 3 on blu ray

Exciting news from the world of Pixar! I'm thrilled to be one of the first to announce that we finally have a Blu-Ray/DVD release date for Cars 3. After months of speculation, I can confirm that Tuesday, November 7th is the day you can take Cars 3 home and watch it to your heart's content! Mark your calendars.

Beginning this coming Tuesday (September 5th), you will be able to reserve your copy at the Disney Store (in stores and online) and receive their traditional four print lithograph set and a $10 off [$40 or more] coupon. No images of the lithos have been revealed quite yet, but I'll be sure to update this post for you when I get them. Anyway, it's something for us Cars fans to look forward to! You can check out the standard Blu-Ray combo pack and DVD covers above.

Additionally, Target and Best Buy have already begun their pre-orders. You can order the Target version HERE (which features exclusive packaging and an included 32 page storybook) or the Best Buy version HERE (which is their usual exclusive SteelBook packaging). Check them both out below! Which one are you planning on picking up? The Target cover is probably my favorite of the bunch.

The digital release date (via iTunes, Disney Movies Anywhere, Vudu, etc.) has yet to be revealed, but you can most likely expect it to it approximately two weeks before the tangible release. As soon as I get that info, I'll update this post.

Lastly, I'll have the official "special features" list for you here soon. Pixar is keeping that under wraps for a little while longer, but boy am I excited to see what they give us this time around. The bonus content is what I look forward to the most! Hoping for a filmmaker's audio commentary, a plethora of "making of" featurettes and a handful of deleted scenes. We shall see!

Stay tuned.

UPDATE 9/05/17:
We now have an official digital release date! Cars 3 will be available digitally on October 24th—a couple weeks before the physical release (as predicted). And, the moment you've been waiting for: yes—Cars 3 will be available in 4K Ultra HD like many of you hoped! It will mark the first 4K release of a Pixar film.

And here's what I was most excited for...the official list of Cars 3 special features has been revealed! Check them out below. Cars 3: Mack (Deluxe)

cars 3 mack pixar

Hey Cars fans! Once again, I'm getting to this post pretty late over here, so I'm going to keep this review very short. Here we have another 1:55 scale Mattel Cars 3 diecast, this time one of the "Deluxe" sized characters...everyone's favorite tractor trailer/hauler, Mack! This version of Mack was released back on the official Cars 3 merch launch day of May 1st (and is still keeping those pegs warm almost four months later).

Yah this one doesn't seem to be generally selling too good, at least where I'm at. I still see bunches of this Mack stocked at all my local stores every time I go. Of course I understand that it's not the most exciting diecast (speaking for myself—only because I have so many Macks), but as a dedicated Mattel Cars collector, this new design was essential to get and document here.

pixar mattel deluxe mack cars 3 diecast

There's nothing too different here as far as design goes, especially since this seems to be the exact same mold that was used for Mattel's original Mack diecast. Really the only thing that has been changed between Cars and Cars 3, from what I can tell, is McQueen's 95 logo on his side and Mack's "hat" color (which had a white front in the first film). Anything else new is too subtle for me to notice.

pixar mattel deluxe mack cars 3 diecast

You can find this Deluxe single carded Mack at any of your local Walmarts, Targets or Toys R Us stores. I guarantee you he'll be there if you go check anytime soon! He's also available in a "Racing 3-pack" featuring Cars 3 Lightning McQueen and Chick Hicks with headset (which I've personally only ever seen at Kohls. It might be an exclusive there).

And as always, if you'd rather just snag this for your collection online, you can visit the direct Amazon links below to purchase. Happy hunting!

Toy Story: Little Green Men Bowling Set—Lights & Sound!

toy story disney parks alien bowling set

Have you ever wanted to go bowling, but rather than knocking down traditional pins, you knock down Little Green Men from Toy Story? Chances are that scenario never crossed your mind, but it's now a thing regardless! It's something I never knew I wanted until I saw it. 😜

I spotted this Toy Story alien bowling set at Disney World during our most recent trip back in May and I couldn't resist it. It was too unique, silly and fun to pass up! Included in the box are six Little Green Men pins and an asteroid inspired bowling ball. Each alien is around 6" tall and made of a lightweight translucent plastic; two of which even feature lights and phrases! The ball is also a lightweight, hollow plastic and measures about 12" in diameter.

Each LGM is connected to a narrow stand on the bottom to allow them to be knocked over more easily. The lights and sounds of the two electronic aliens are motion activated and will automatically go off when the alien is toppled, picked up or moved in any way. My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be an on/off switch, so sometimes even the slightest movement will send them into a talking spree.

Speaking of the phrases, there are nine of them. Here's what they say:
  • The ball...it moves!
  • I go on to a better place!
  • Ooooooooo!
  • Ahhhhhhhh!
  • I have been chosen!
  • The Ball!
  • The Ball of power!
  • The ball chooses who will go and who will stay!
  • Do not anger the ball...
The light bulbs in the aliens are pretty small and essentially just illuminate their heads. For the best effect, play at night or with the lights dimmed.

Here's a brief demonstration video so you can hear what they sound like! My favorite line is "do not anger the ball..." It just cracks me up for some reason. The two electronic LGMs require three button cell batteries (included).

Check 'em out!

I'll be putting this away for my kids to inherit one day, but in the mean time this is a really fun set that me and my nephew Noah have fun playing with. For young Toy Story fans (and even their parents), you can't go wrong here!

If you're interested in grabbing this for your collection, be sure to pick it up during your next visit to Disney World or Disneyland. It's also available to order off of the Shop Disney Parks app, which is convenient for those not going to the parks anytime soon! Retail is $24.99.

Happy bowling!

Cars 3: Natalie Certain

pixar cars natalie certain
"The racing world is changing..."

Here we have another Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast review...this time featuring Natalie Certain! She was released on the official Mattel Cars 3 launch day of May 1st and is currently available in this single pack and a 2-pack with Chick Hicks with headset.

In the film, as shown in the screenshot above, Natalie is one of the top and most highly respected racing analysts/statisticians working for RSN (Racing Sports Network). Her official bio states: Book-smart and mathematically gifted, Certain is a fresh voice in the racing world. While she may earn top marks in her ability to evaluate a racer's stats, she could be underestimating the importance of determination.

pixar cars 3 natalie certain mattel diecast

Though this, admittedly, isn't the most exciting design or release (it's one of those where it's like "don't I have several characters who kind of look like her?"), Natalie Certain is still a must have for Cars fans and collectors. I wouldn't consider her a main character per se, but she's definitely a reoccurring one with a decent amount of screen time; one who shares some important info for us audience members.

pixar cars 3 natalie certain mattel diecast

If your area is anything like mine, then you won't have much trouble finding Natalie in stores (whether this single pack or the 2-pack). Despite being released almost four months ago, she's still hanging on those pegs! If you'd rather just pick her up for your collection online, visit THIS DIRECT LINK to current eBay listings or check out Amazon using the link below.

Happy hunting out there! Be sure to let me know your Cars 3 findings/success stories in the comments below.

Cars 3: Murray Clutchburn (Sputter Stop)

Cars 3 Murray Clutchburn (Sputter Stop)

Today's going to be another quick and simple post as I take a brief look at the Cars 3 Mattel 1:55 scale diecast of Murray Clutchburn (also known by his sponsor Sputter Stop— No. 92)! Murray was one of the first characters to be released in the initial Cars 3 merch launch back on May 1st.

As shown in the screenshot above (sorry it's not much since I have to go by the trailers until the Blu-Ray comes out), Murray is one of the many Piston Cup racers seen participating in the various races towards the beginning of the film. Like a few of the other Cars 3 Piston Cup racers, he first appeared in the original Cars. Yup, apparently this is still the same Murray Clutchburn (with the same number and sponsor; however with an upgraded look design wise) that was seen racing all the way back during the time frame of Cars 1. I guess after all these years, he's still going strong! See his original design and diecast blog post HERE

Cars 3 Murray Clutchburn (Sputter Stop)

He's not too much different from his previous look, but he's new nonetheless so I had to go for him. That's how they getchya'! ;)

Cars 3 Murray Clutchburn (Sputter Stop)

So far, Sputter Stop here has only been released as a single. No multipack releases just yet, but I'm sure they'll happen in the future. He's still very easy to find in stores (at least in my neck of the woods), so be sure to check your local Target, Walmart or Toys R Us for availability. If you'd rather just pick him up online, visit current eBay listings HERE or Amazon using the direct link below.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! If you're also a collector, I'd love to hear your success stories. Have you found any of the latest Cars 3 releases? For some reason, all the newest cases haven't hit my area yet (in fact, there hasn't been a restock of mainline diecasts since May). It's totally nuts! My area can't be the only one struggling right?

Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs by Jakks Pacific (Series 7)- Pixar Only

Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs Series 7 Jakks Pacific

As of a couple weeks ago, SERIES SEVEN of the popular Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs by Jakks Pacific officially started hitting store shelves across the US. If you've followed along with my posts since early this year, you may know that I've gotten really into collecting these guys (see my original post on how I got hooked); so yes, I was super excited when these finally hit my area not too long ago!

In this, the newest series, there are 15 Disney/Pixar characters to collect: Snow White, Mike Wazowski, Tiger Lily, Crush, Thumper, Miss Piggy, Baloo, Mr. Big, Pascal, Sally, Abu, Mad Hatter, Pinocchio, Simba and Jafar's Genie. Of course, like usual, I'm only interested in finding the Pixar characters and that's exactly what I did! This time there are only two and I was able to track down both Crush (Finding Nemo) and Mike Wazowski (Monsters Inc.) this past week over the course of several toy runs.

Below is one of the cases I found at Toys R Us. It took me a couple other visits to some other stores before I was able to find and snag both of the ones I was looking for, but I prevailed. These have been showing up at Targets as well.

Note- If you missed my posts on the previous six series, I'd recommend checking those out before moving on: SERIES TWO HERE, SERIES THREE HERE, SERIES FOUR HERE, SERIES FIVE HERE and SERIES SIX HERE

Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs Series 7 Jakks Pacific

As always, the adorable accessories/display stands are really what make these worth it to collect for me. These ones are especially cute. I absolutely LOVE Crush's "ocean wave" display piece and that tiny little Squirt on it as well (not removable). Mike with the Monsters Inc. logo is really fun to have too! And don't forget, these are blind bags—so you don't really know who you're gonna get until you open them up. However, you can obviously try and feel for whoever you're looking for. That's all I do and I've nailed it each time (standing there feeling each bag can be tedious and take up a bit of time though).

Disney Tsum Tsum Mystery Stack Packs Series 7 Jakks Pacific

If this is your first experience with this collection, Mystery Stack Pack Tsums Tsums are always about 1.5" in size and are made of a soft vinyl/plastic material. Each pack retails for $2.99.

Note- The attached tiny Squirt is less than half an inch in size. Talk about adorable! Totally sweet.

Check them all out in my detailed photos below!

There you go guys! Best of luck on the hunt if you're looking to add these ones (or any from this series) to your collection. Again, Target and Toys R Us stores are your best bets right now to find them—so head to yours ASAP to check for availability!

And by the way, look forward to SERIES 8 to hit in either October or November (it's usually about two or three months between series). Can't wait for that Flik/Heimlich/candycorn pack and the Lightning McQueen with Piston Cup! Check out the sneak peek HERE.

Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below. Who's your favorite character from this series? Who do you hope to see in a future series down the road? I love to hear from you guys.

Cars 3: Daniel Swervez

Cars 3 Daniel Swervez screen shot

Hello and welcome to another Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast review! Today I'm taking a look at Daniel Swervez, the next generation Octane Gain racer. As far as looks go, this is one of my all time favorite racers across all three Cars films and this diecast is very well done. I just really dig the "next-gen" design and his indigo and shiny gold color combo (plus, he has a pretty awesome name ;).

As shown in the screenshot above, Daniel's most notable appearance in the film is when Lightning goes looking for Bobby Swift, only to find that he's been replaced by this next generation racer. "Name's Danny bro"; it's a line that stuck for some reason and my nephew and I quote it all the time!

Note: There is a packaging variant out there that states his name as "Danny Swervez", rather than "Daniel Swervez." The "Daniel" version I have here came first, but it seems that was considered an error by Mattel (which makes sense). I guess they felt that since the character introduces himself as "Danny" in the film, a correction with the proper name on the card was necessary. It doesn't appear that one is more rare than the other.

Cars 3 Daniel Swervez mattel diecast

Fun Fact: Daniel Swervez is voiced by real life Nascar racer, Daniel Suárez.

Cars 3 Daniel Swervez mattel diecast

Daniel has already been released in several multipacks in addition to this single pack, so he's by no means hard to come by at this point. You can find him in a Walmart Piston Cup Race 5-pack, a Target Race to Win 4-pack and a 2-pack with Jackson Storm. I believe those are all of his current releases, but I'm sure there will be more ways to get this character in the near future and for years to come. He seems pretty popular.

Be sure to check your local Walmart, Toys R Us or Target [etc.] for availability! Or you can snag him online on eBay RIGHT HERE or Amazon using the link below.

Let me know your thoughts below and happy hunting out there!

Cars: "New Wheels" Postcard (Art by Michelle Bickford)

Cars "New Wheels" Postcard Art by Michelle Bickford

While my wife and I were visiting Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure last month, I stumbled upon some very cool Cars art that I couldn't pass up. I was especially happy to see that all of the pieces I was interested in were available in an affordable, space-saving 5X7" postcard size. For today's post, I'm showing off one of the designs I purchased—namely, "New Wheels" by artist Michelle Bickford! Many of your favorite townies from Radiator Springs are here including: Stanley, Mater, Lightning McQueen, Sally, Flo, Ramone, Luigi, Guido and Doc Hudson.

This is a real standout. Bickford pulled off something truly unique here and it really caught my eye. I've never really seen anything quite like her style, so at first I admittedly thought it was a little odd.  She went incredibly minimal and stylized here with the Radiator Springs characters, all featured in connected bubbles. The more I looked at it though, the more I appreciated it's simplistic boldness, colors and overall wacky (yet so lovable) look. It wasn't long before I was thinking "OK this is really cool. I wonder what else this artist has to offer?".

Cars "New Wheels" Postcard Art by Michelle Bickford

What really sold me on the design was seeing this fun 3D version of the print [below] all framed up on display at Ramone's House of Body Art. Is that not cool or what?  There was no way on earth I could ever spend $1700 on it, but man I would have if I had all the funds I could possibly want.

Cars "New Wheels" Postcard Art by Michelle Bickford

I definitely get a retro 50s/60s vibe when looking at her designs of these characters (with a touch of funky modernism). The blobby shapes, straight lines, curved edges and use of triangles (not to mention the abstract-esque background) are all very much aspects of classic mid-century-modern art (which is hard to describe, but I know it when I see it); and having checked out more of Bickford's art since, the interconnected "speech bubble" type shapes seem to be a signature design element of hers that she incorporates in most of her art.

If you dig this print as much as I do, be sure to pop into Ramone's House of Body Art next time you visit Cars land. Retail is only $4.99 for this postcard size. Let me know your thoughts on this piece in the comments below!

To learn more about Michelle Bickford and to view more of her art, check out her website HERE or her Facebook page HERE.

Toy Story Mania Mr. Potato Head "Park Starz" Vinylmation

Last summer, Disney Parks (as well as the DisneyStore.com) released their fourth "Park Starz" blind box Vinylmation series. Like usual, this series includes all sorts of fun, stylized characters based on many iconic attractions/lands from the Disney theme parks! Unlike traditional Mickey Mouse shaped Vinylmations, Park Starz each have their own unique mold and design.

This Mr. Potato Head Park Starz figure was one of 12 characters included in series four and is inspired by his "boardwalk barker" appearance at the Toy Story Mania attraction (one of my favorite rides). I actually have quite the Toy Story Mania collection right now (in fact, it occupies a whole shelf in my new home office), so I couldn't resist tracking this down to go with my other items! Though he's his own unique shape, he's still the standard Vinylmation height of about 3" tall.

Take a closer look!

Toy Story Mania Mr. Potato Head "Park Starz" Vinylmation

Love his rounded shape and little details throughout. It's super quirky and fun looking! Below you can see that his arms are painted on his sides and that he's holding his microphone. I can hear him now..."Step right up– step right up!"

On the side of the box below you can see the other Park Starz figures that were included in this series. To view a rundown on who everyone is and/or what classic attraction they represent, visit THIS LINK to Chasing Vinylmation's website.

I've just added him to my shelf and he looks great! If you're a Toy Story Mania fan or any kind of Vinylmation collector, you might want to consider trying to track this one down online. Check out THIS DIRECT LINK to current eBay listings to see what's currently available (he typically sells between $20-$30 these days).

Cars 3: Raph Carlow (Lil' Torquey Pistons)

Cars 3 Raph Carlow

Hey everybody! Thanks for hanging tight while I was away this weekend. I'm back now and that means right back to blog posts! Today I'm finally jumping into my Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecasts collection with Piston Cup racer, Ralph Carlow No. 117 (also known by his sponsor Lil' Torquey Pistons).

Why choose Ralph Carlow for my very first Cars 3 diecast post? There's really no reason except it's late here and he was a simple choice (though perhaps a tad anticlimactic), ha! Admittedly I'm tired and knew this one would be quick to document here.

Cars 3 Raph Carlow mattel diecast

As shown in the screen shot above, Carlow is one of the Piston Cup racers seen throughout the opening of the film during the various races. He actually originally appeared in the first Cars and is one of the few racers still racing by the time frame of Cars 3 (with an updated design of course). There's not much to say about him really, but he's still a pretty cool looking stock race car with some colorful graphics.

Cars 3 Raph Carlow mattel diecast

This diecast was first available at Kmart stores during this year's Kmart Cars 3 event on Saturday, June 17 (that's where I picked him up). This is not a Kmart exclusive however; it's more of what they call a "first to market", as in Kmart was the first to get him, but he will see a wider release soon (if not already).

If you're having troubles finding Ralph Carlow in stores and would rather save trouble by picking him up online, check out eBay using THIS DIRECT LINK or Amazon using the link below.

Happy hunting and let me know your thoughts in the comments below! More Cars 3 to come...

Fun Disney·Pixar Kleenex– Now Available!

disney pixar characters kleenex tissues

As part of their "Back to School" collection, Kleenex Brand has just released this super fun and colorful 3-Pack featuring Disney·Pixar inspired tissue boxes! Even though I don't currently have a cold (knock on wood), I couldn't help but snag these when I saw them at Walmart last week. Unfortunately, I'm sure they'll come in handy one of these days! Until then, I'll just appreciate these neat designs and not being sick. I'm a sucker for any product with Pixar characters grouped together like this. I like how many of my all time top favorite Pixar films (Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Monsters University and Up) are represented!

Inside this 3-pack you'll find one standard box of Kleenex and two Pixar boxes (both Pixar boxes are exactly the same —no variations). It's a tiny bit of a bummer I had to get so many boxes just to get this Pixar box design (I didn't see it sold individually), but hey, the pack was only around $5. Consider us stocked up on tissues for a while though!

If you have any little Pixar fans at your household, this might be a fun something to bring home for them! Maybe seeing all their favorite characters on the box will help brighten them up if they're down with a cold. Check out all the angles of the boxes in my photos below—

Head to your local Walmart (or possibly Target?) to pick these up today! Also be sure to check out my review of the Cars 3 Kleenex (which I looked at back in May) and let me know what you think in the comment section below.
