For the Birds: Plush

Here we have it, I've finally added the Disney Parks For the Birds plush to my collection! For the Birds is the classic and hilarious short film that was released in theaters back in 2001 with Monsters Inc. The Film was directed by Ralph Eggleston.

This was available exclusively at the Disney Parks and Downtown Disney back in 2010. Somehow I missed it when it was released and it has taken me well over two years now to finally track it down on eBay. I'm thrilled to have it now though and it doesn't disappoint!

The colors, softness and design are all top notch. As you can probably tell, the likeness isn't perfect, but it's still very recognizable and looks close enough to the birds in the film.

Best of all? It squeaks! If you remember from the short, they make a hilarious squeaking sound that very much resembles the sound this plush makes when you squeeze its belly.

This is my first collectible from For the Birds and one out of seven short films plush I've been lucky enough to own. The other ones are the Gopher from Boundin', Alec the bunny from Presto, Stu from Lifted, Bambino from La Luna and the Jackalope/lamb 2-pack from Boundin'

In addition, there were also a couple of For the Birds released exclusively at the Pixar Studio Store. I've never seen these plush pop up on eBay, but I have seen a few images of them. Check them out over at the Pixar Planet Forum.

You can check out a video of this plush squeaking below and be sure to subscribe to me on Youtube!

You can find this plush on eBay, but it only pops up about two or three times a year. If you do see it come up and really love it, don't hesitate! This is a pretty rare item and usually sells between $25-$40. You can search for current listing using the link below:

As a side note, today is my one year anniversary since I started this blog! This is my 409th post, I can't believe I've been able to post about that many items and how fast it has gone. There's still much more to come, I'm not stopping here, so stay tuned for more!

A Bug's Life: Disney Store Plush Collection

Happy National Insect Week!

What? Not aware that this week has been Insect Week? What, have you been hiding under a rock or an anthill? Just kidding, don't feel bad. I didn't know either until a few days ago. Here's the story behind it:

So a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to find this amazing complete set of the 1998 A Bug's Life Disney Store exclusive mini bean bag plush (all brand new, all with tags) for only $50 on eBay. My wife Brita told me I could get it, however it would be a Christmas present. I was completely cool with that and was thrilled to make this purchase as I had been trying to track down a full lot of these for quite some time.

The package arrived just days later and was then stored in our bedroom.

Then, just yesterday, I asked Brita "Are you sure there aren't any bug holidays between now and Christmas so I could get the plush sooner?" It was a joke of course and we laughed...but then it got "serious". I then said, "Wait a second. What if there really is?" Again, semi-joking of course.

"We'll Google it then." I said. "If there really is a 'National Bug Day', then I get these on that day. Deal?" Brita agreed, then we got our laptop.

Brita typed in "National Bug Day" and sure enough right off the bat...there was one! Not only that, but it's a whole week dedicated to insects called "National Insect Week."And not only THAT, but it happened to be June 23rd-June 29th this year! Yes that is correct, Insect Week is happening right now and ending today. You can learn more about it on their official website, NationalInsectWeek.com.

What are the chances? That there is an Insect Week and that it was happening currently?! Oh well, works for me! A deal was a deal, so Brita surprised me with these bug plush by having them make appearances in random places (throughout our apartment yesterday and today) until I had them all. Now I'm so excited to be posting about them and sharing them with all of you.

Anyway, onto these great "mini bean bag plush". There are 11 total, they are very well made and are extremely vibrant in color, even being 16 years old. It's like I just picked them up at the store yesterday as they even have all of their tags (as previously mentioned).

I'll start here, with some of the features that are included with these plush across the board. Each has a "Club Disney" tag and an A Bug's Life tag with the film's logo on it. Open up that tag to find an illustration of Flik and Atta, totally in love.

Each plush also has a small tag on the side which has the character's name on it. This is especially helpful with Tuck and Roll. Without that, I wouldn't have known who is who! The only thing that differentiates between the two is their eyebrows.

Now lets take a look at each plush.
Roll:

Tuck:

Both Tuck and Roll have Velcro so that you can, well, tuck and roll them!

Francis:

Dim:

Heimlich:

P.T. Flea:

Dot:

Rosie:

Hopper:

Princess Atta:

And last but not least, our hero, Flik:

It's too bad the Disney Store didn't release a Gypsy, Slim, Manny, Molt or Queen plush, but this is a great, great line up of plush. I'm so excited to have added it to my collection, thanks to my amazingly awesome and supportive wife and thanks to National Insect Week.

You can track these down on eBay, in groups like this or individually, using the link below:

Finding Nemo: Mr. Ray Play & Scoop Bath Set

Relatively recently, within the last few years, Disney released their official line of baby toys, clothes, bibs, sippy cups, bedding, etc.

This line is called, wait for it, "Disney Baby."

Disney Baby has released products from many of the popular Disney films, a few of them being Pixar related. So far, products based on Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Cars, Monsters University and Finding Nemo have all been represented in the line.

I've known about this line for quite a while now, but, since my wife and I don't have any babies yet, I never paid too much attention to it. However, when I saw many of the products while at the store recently, I really couldn't help but get a few and save them for when our baby arrives in a couple years. I figured, these will probably be gone by the time we have kids so why not just get them now so I don't regret it later?

What really sold me was the idea of getting some baby stuff now were the Finding Nemo bath toys. When I was little, I loved playing with toys during bath time. I had a whole bucket full of them kept under the sink in the bathroom that I couldn't wait to play with each day.

When I saw how adorable these toys were in person, I knew they would be great fun for our baby someday. Plus, I just felt Finding Nemo and bath toys was the absolute perfect pairing that I'm surprised took this long to really expand. The merchandise for Finding Nemo was meant to be pool and bath toys, it makes the most sense!

This extremely cute bath "net scoop" is designed like Mr. Ray, Nemo's school teacher. It includes little scoopable plastic characters of Nemo, Pearl and Squirt that "ride" on Mr. Ray's back and go off to school (as seen in the film) as you scoop them up.

If you have, or soon will have, little baby Finding Nemo fans, I really can't recommend this set enough. It sells for just $9.99 and can be found at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Babies R us and others. Or you can grab it right on Amazon, if that is the most convenient.

Check out DisneyBaby.com for many more great Disney Baby products and stay tuned for reviews of a few more right here soon!

Up: Disney Store Dug and Kevin Plush

Ever since Up merchandise came and went back in 2009, there really hasn't been many additional items released. Out of nowhere a couple of months ago, the Disney Store came out with these two brand new exclusive mini bean bag plushes of Dug and Kevin! I was thrilled, especially since I missed the original plush release of these characters five years back.

I was also excited since my collection of Up merch is very limited. These are fun and adorable new additions that look great displayed on my new Up themed shelf.

Dug is about six inches tall and Kevin is about nine inches tall. They're made of quality materials and feature vibrant colors and details. I especially love Dug's "talk collar"and shiny nose and Kevin's "feathers" and shiny faux leather beak.

Both of these plush retail for $9.95, but if you purchase both, they're just $8 each. Get them while you can if you're a Up fan or a fan of Disney/Pixar in general. These won't last long and, once they're gone, will be gone for good unless they are re-released again down the road. You can purchase Dug HERE and Kevin HERE

A huge thanks to my parents in-law who got me these great items for my recent birthday. They're just what I was hoping for!

Thanks as usual for stopping by to read the blog and be sure to check back daily for more updates!

Toy Story Toons: Three Toy Toons 3D Book

Released just last year, here is this awesome hardcover Toy Story Toons book featuring cute and simple retellings of all three Toy Story short films.

From Amazon:
Jump into three stories starring Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the toys from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story! Kids ages 3–7 will love this hardcover 3-D storybook collection featuring the Toy Story Toons Hawaiian Vacation, Small Fry, and Partysaurus Rex—all in 3-D with a pair of 3-D glasses!

The book's stories here in the book are presented in the order the films were released and include screen shots (not illustrations) of some of the films' most memorable moments.

"WHAT UP FISHES!?" This classic (and I'd say the most quoted line out of all the Toy Story Toons) is not in the book. However, as seen above, the screen shot is. That works for me! At least it was represented.

The 3D effect from the glasses is actually pretty neat. It is the old style red and blue type, so the colors from the book (as you read it with the glasses) are all of messed up, but it's definitely cool enough. As you would expect, some of the images work better than others. Some of them really POP! I was impressed.

The glasses are stored right in the front cover with an opening flap so you can easily get them in or out of the little case.

Since there isn't a ton of merch for the Toy Story Toons out there, I really recommend this book. It's not only great for kids to read but is a fun collector's item as well. You can grab it on Amazon for just $8.75!

Finding Nemo: "Shark Bait HOO HAHA" Hot Topic Tee

Here's another fantastic new Finding Nemo T-shirt, now available exclusively at Hot Topic! As I mentioned in my Hot Topic WALL-E shirt post, I find it so cool that Pixar themed shirts have been being released there. There are some really cool designs, this being one of them.

Of course "Shark Bait HOO HAHA" is what the fish tank gang says repeatedly when Nemo is initiated into their "club" by swimming through "the ring of fire." Such a fun idea to put this on a shirt and I love the simplicity of the minimal design.

Next year, my wife and I are going on a Disney Cruise and this will be absolutely the most perfect tee to wear during a day of it. It definitely has a tropical vibe.

This shirt feels and fits great. It's made of a very soft and comfortable material as well. Also, as mentioned in the WALL-E shirt post, hot topic tees are nice and fitted which I like.

If you're interested in snagging this tee, I'd get it while you can! It's in stock now at HotTopic.com. Hurry though, once these tees sell out (from what I've seen with the previous Hot Topic Pixar tees), they're pretty much gone and impossible to track down any other way.

A big thanks to my fantastic wife who got this tee and a few others for our two year wedding anniversary from a few weeks ago!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back daily for more from my Pixar collection! Please let me know if you have any questions on this shirt or any other items that you see here on the blog.

Pixar Collection: Puzzle Time Book

A few weeks ago, I came across this Pixar Puzzle Time book which popped up on my eBay homepage (since I follow the search "Pixar Collectibles"). I was immediately drawn to the illustrations on the cover and looked a bit more into it. Being that it's Pixar related, has great illustrations that are totally my style and the fact that I've always loved puzzles (especially as a little kid), this one was for me! Needless to say, I snatched it right up on Amazon to save for my future kids, in hopes they'll love Pixar and puzzles as much as me.

This book is by Lara Bergenm, is 16 pages long and was released in 2006, hence the fact that the films represented here only goes up through Cars. It's of course made for very young kids, sine the puzzles are only 24 pieces large and are very simple.

Here is the official description from the back of the book:
This interactive storybook features seven 24-piece puzzles starring your favorite Disney/Pixar characters, each in their most memorable moments. Each puzzle (color-coded on the back for easy sorting) is accompanied by a lively retelling of The Incredibles, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, and Cars. Plus, there’s a bonus spread of original poetry.

The Puzzles are built right inside the book, which is another cool aspect to this and one of the reasons I was drawn to it. I've never had a "Puzzle Book" like this before! It's really neat. The book starts with The Incredibles and goes from there.

At the end of the book, which is just a tad random, there is a couple pages of Pixar related poems based on The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life, Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Cars. They're actually kind of cute though and I had a fun time reading them to my wife Brita when I opened this book up.

Do you love puzzles and Pixar or know someone who does? Then I can't recommend this enough! You can purchase it from Amazon or from eBay using the link below:

Thanks for dropping by today and have fun exploring my collection! Be sure to check back daily for more.
