Cars: Chuck Manifold

"They are all asking the same question...where is Mcqueen?"
-Chuck Manifold

Chuck Manifold is an RSN (Racing Sports Network) reporter seen in the original Cars film. As shown in the screenshot above, Chuck can be seen during the montage of speculating reporters after Lightning goes missing.

This is a 1:55 scale diecast car from Mattel and was only available a few years back in the "Race O Rama" collection and is #86.

If you're a collector who missed him back in the day or a new collector trying to track down the old cars, you can pick Chuck up (for very cheap) on Amazon or eBay below:

Hope you're enjoying more from my Pixar Cars collection! Be sure to check back every day as more will be added in a coming months.

Cars: Night Vision Lightning Mcqueen

Here we have "Night Vision Lightning McQueen"! This McQueen was originally available in the Race O Rama series in 2009, includes the movie scene accurate white wall tires and comes with a pretty neat collector's guide.

As shown in the screenshot above, Lightning McQueen is seen wearing these night vision goggles while in Sarge's Army Surplus store during the "Route 66" montage in the original Cars (when it showcases him helping out the townsfolk with their businesses).

Here are some of the pages you can expect in the booklet:

This is a pretty cool and unique diecast that is relatively lesser known. You can pick it up on Amazon  or eBay below for a pretty inexpensive price:

Thanks for stopping by and look forward to many more cars to come!

Cars 2: Funny Car Mater

You've probably realized that I've been posting quite a few cars lately...and there's many more to come! My Cars & Cars 2 diecasts are a big part of my Pixar collection. I've posted quite a few periodically up to this point but now it's going to be just about every day for a while. So, if you're a fan of Cars you'll enjoy the posts ahead!

Today I'm going back a couple years (to 2012, I believe) with the deluxe "Funny Car Mater" from the original Cars 2 line. I really enjoy all the Mater disguise/costume diecasts Mattel has released. At this point, I think they've made them all! The only one I'm missing (and hope they re-release in the U.S.) is the "Taco Truck Mater" which was only available in Europe.
This is a fun diecast with a solid, movie accurate design and sculpt. If you're a Mater fan and haven't tracked him down yet, he's not rare or hard to find. He can be found on Amazon or eBay below:

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back daily for more cars, both old and new, coming soon!

My Short Film: The Sweater

Now I know this isn't Pixar related, but I definitely wanted to share my latest short film effort with as many people as possible! It's called "The Sweater" and I would love to hear how you like it. Please like, share, comment and let me know if you have any questions about it.

Watch in 1080p or 720p for best quality! Also, since it's small here on the blog, you might want to watch it on YouTube.

Brave: Art of Book

Here is another fantastic "Art of" book from Chronicle publishing, The Art of Brave by Jenny Lerew with preface by John Lasseter and foreword by the film's directors Brenda Chapman and Mark Andrews!

I was so happy to have received this as a St. Patrick's Day present from my parents. I justified that it would make a great present for the holiday since her cape is green and that her hair is orange (even though the film's location is Scotland, not Ireland).

Even though Brave got lukewarm reviews and is one of the least favorited of Pixar's films, there's no denying that the art direction in the film is just gorgeous. This was Pixar's first period piece that presented many challenges but how they pulled it off is outstanding. There is so much detail and realism in every shot, from the sweeping landscapes to the character interaction.

This book has some great concept art, storyboards and more (including some really cool photographs from the team's research trips to Scotland). There is so much to enjoy in this book with a ton of behind the scenes insights that made me appreciate the film even more.

I love the fairytale/fable feel to all the art. It really is beautiful and I definitely recommend picking this up so you can experience all of the 160 insightful pages.

You can pick this on Amazon (currently on sale for a great price of only $22.83!) or on eBay below:

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Sorry I missed yesterday, I'm not feeling good but knew I needed to not let my readers down. Check back daily for more to come and please let me know if you have any comments or questions.

Cars: Kathy Copter

From the "Race O Rama" line of cars from Mattel, here is Kathy Copter! Kathy is seen in the original Cars when the press finally finds Lightning in Radiator Springs. She's the character that says "We have found McQueen. We have found McQueen!"

Kathy has also been released in the "World of Cars" and the "Lenticular Eyes" (Look! My eyes change) lines.

You can pick this one up on Amazon or eBay below:
Cars: Kathy Copter

Yesterday, I was so busy working on, exporting and uploading my new short film "The Sweater." It's FINALLY done and uploaded to YouTube! If you're interested, you can watch it here. I really appreciate the support! It was a lot of work so I would love for you to share it and comment.

Cars: The Essential Guide

Here's another "Essential Guide" book (almost the last one! If you're an avid reader of mine, you're probably sick of these)

These books always chock-full of lots of fun info about characters, plot points, props, fun trivia ("Did you know?" facts), quotes, stats and much more! They are definitely geared more to a younger crowed, but I still say they're great for learning so many simple things about the films that you might not get from just watching them. They're just as fun for adults, or at least I speak for myself.

This book is hardcover and has 48 quality, insightful, colorful pages.

If you're a Cars fan, I definitively recommend picking this up. You can find it on Amazon or eBay below:
Cars: The Essential Guide Book

You can find an "Essential Guide" for every Pixar film except A Bug's Life.

Check out my "Books" label to the right the explore my growing collection of Pixar books and to see more of the Essential Guides that I own. More to come!

Thanks for visiting today's post and be sure to check back daily for more items from my Pixar collection.

Cars: Leroy Traffik

Leroy Traffik is the struggling mini van (with a flat tire) seen passing sleepy Mack on the highway in the original Cars. I always find this scene pretty hilarious, especially the little "mimimimimimi" sounds Leroy makes as he passes Mack and Lightning's response "A mini van?!"

This diecast has been released a few times over the years: This one from the Race O Rama collection, the latest one found at Toy R Us as a Radiator Springs Classic and in The World of Cars series from a few years back. With all his releases, he's not a hard one to track down on eBay.

An interesting tidbit, Leroy is also seen at the end of Cars during the end credits epilogue. He can be seen coming out of Luigi's with brand new, heavy duty snow tires. A Leroy Traffik diecast based on his appearance with snow tires was also released by Mattel (as a deluxe vehicle).

You can pick up Leroy on eBay if you haven't been able to find him at the store:

Thanks for stopping by the blog and be sure to check back daily for more! I love contact from readers so please contact me if you have an comments, ideas, suggestions or questions.

Toy Story 3: Meet the Gang Book

Here's a pretty simple yet fun Toy Story 3 story/picture book from 2010! I picked this up at the store back when the film was released in theaters. I thought it would be a fun book for my little Toy Story fans to look through someday.

This book goes through many of the main points of the film but what makes this book unique is the 3D lenticular "moving pictures" on each page (as seen on the left page above). It's a study, hardcover board book with a softer, padded cover. It's written by Annie Auerbach and is 16 pages long.

If you're interested in this book, surprisingly you can still get it at the DisneyStore.com or Barnes and Noble. There's also some available on Amazon or eBay below:

Thanks as always for checking out my site and be sure to check back every day to see more from my Pixar collection of books, toys and collectibles!

Cars: Matthew "True Blue" McCrew

Welcome to day's post! For those of you who follow my blog daily, sorry my posts have been so late in the day lately. I've been extremely busy with writing, directing, filming and editing a short film that I'm very excited about. It's a pretty big undertaking and it has consumed most of my time, but I'm really happy with how it's turning out. I'll post a link here soon when it's done so you can watch it, if interested.

Anyway, so back to Pixar. After all, that's why you're here. Here is another one of Mattel's latest releases (actually it's a re-release) from 2014's "RSN" sub-line of cars, Matthew "True Blue" McCrew!
Matthew is one of the many fans of "The King" seen in the crowds during the original Cars (screen shot of the exact moment above). Like mentioned, Mattel has released him before in the "Final Lap" series a few years back. If you missed him then (like I did), here's your second chance!

In the film, Matthew's color is just a bit different from the diescast. This toy is more of a brighter, painted blue while a more film-accurate toy would have been a lighter, more metallic blue. Oh well! Not a big deal to me, just thought I'd throw out that observation.

If you looking for Matthew and can't seem to find him at any of your local stores, you can pick him up at Amazon (This version here, the original Final Lap release here) or on eBay below:

Cars 2: Race Team Sarge with Headset

Here is another brand new release from Mattel's 2014 Cars 2 diecast collection...Race Team Sarge with Headset (otherwise known as Pit Crew Member Sarge)! He is part of the "95 Pit Crew" sub-line which also includes Fillmore, Mater and others with headsets.

There has been one other Sarge with Headset released but it was only available as a lights and sounds version.

This one is just showing up at store now and I was lucky enough to find it last week at my local Walmart. Definitely head to your local stores if you're trying to track him down! He just might be there.  If you can't seem to find him or don't have the patience to run to store to store, you can get him on eBay below:

Pixar Collection: Short Films Volumes 1 & 2

The short films of Pixar are an important part of the studio's history. Years before Toy Story, Pixar's early short films (such as The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. and the iconic Luxo Jr.) served as not only a way to test out the developing technology at the time, but to tell fun, short films with emotion and heart. The early short films really set the tone and style for the Pixar films we enjoy today and were a crucial part in the studio's success.

When A Bug's Life was released in theaters in 1998, it was the first time Pixar included a short (Geri's Game, the classic story of an old man beating himself at chess) to precede their full length film. Since then, it has become a tradition to include a short with each new film release and that trend has yet to be broken.

With these two DVD/BluRay sets, you can own every single Pixar short film from The Adventures of Andre and Wally B all the way through La Luna. Also included are some director's commentaries and even some early short films by "Pixarians" before Pixar was even organized.

Volume One:

 Volume Two:

If you haven't yet, I would definitely recommend picking these up! It's very nice to have all the short films available in two very convenient volumes rather than having to search through all the full length films' special features.

The short films are a huge part of what makes the Pixar special. Each one has its own magic, wit, charm and heart and I always look forward to what's to come. Bring on Volume 3!

You can pick up these volumes on Amazon here (Volume one) and here (Volume 2).

Toy Story 1 2 & 3: Coloring Books

Today's post is as simple as they get...here's a couple Toy Story coloring books I got back when Toy Story 3 was released in theaters.

I know, not the most exciting, but hey! It's part of my Pixar collection so I was bound to post on it eventually. These will be going to my kids someday for hours of coloring fun :)

Thanks for dropping by and look for more right here daily!

Toy Story 1 2 & 3: Random Merch

Here's a few, as the post title states, random Toy Story 3 items I got back in 2010. I say random because these aren't items that I'd usually be drawn to, but when the film came out, everyone close to me knew how much I love Toy Story. Most of these came from friends (who know that I'll always graciously accept anything Pixar related) that were looking for gifts to get me around my birthday that year.

I was always very excited to receive anything from Toy Story (from pencils to band-aids) since this was the first time in about 11 years that a ton of stuff was released from my favorite Pixar film. I also figured this was the last time this much Toy Story merch would be available, so I had to get all I could!

In this lot of items, there's a pack of Toy Story pencils, a Woody nightlight, a drum paddle game, a popcorn bucket, a paddleball game, band-aids, dominoes, a sippy cup and an UNO card game.

These items will be going to my future kids (assuming they'll be Pixar fans but, if not, I'll happily hold onto them for display :) and is a fun little collection of Toy Story knick knacks. I'm grateful to all who contributed!

Thank you very much for stopping by my blog today and taking the time to read and explore my collection. Be sure to check back daily for more and please contact me if you have any questions!

Cars 2: John and Nancy

cars 2 john and nancy scene

One of the latest Cars 2 "Movie Moments" 2-packs from Mattel, here we have John and Nancy!

These two characters are briefly seen in the film during the Paris arrival montage, kissing on a bridge. What makes this set extra cool (and a must have for big Pixar fans) is that these cars are based on/pay homage to director John Lasseter and his wife Nancy. John also has another "cameo" as a car in the film as well, John Lassetire.

I love how Mattel even designed these toy versions of the cars to have kissing expressions (eyes closed) and puckered lips (it's hard to tell from these pictures but you can notice it if you look close enough). Such an awesome detail and great for display!

This is part of the "Paris Your" sub-line of the 2014 series. Below is the back of the package which shows others that have been/will be released:

This set has just been released and can be found at your local stores. Check around to see if you can find them, but if not, you can buy it online over at Amazon or eBay below:
