Toy Story 4: Mr. Potato Head Andy's Playroom Potato Pack Review—61 Piece Boxed Set (by Hasbro)

toy story 4 mr potato head potato pack review

That's Mr. Potato Head to you! A special thanks to Hasbro for sending me this EPIC Toy Story 4 "Andy's Playroom Potato Pack"—an incredible 61 piece set featuring seven mini Potato Head characters (Bo Peep, Woody, Bunny, Ducky, Forky, Duke Caboom and Buzz Lightyear) and the newest full scale versions of both Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head (not to mention a bunch of extra parts). This entire pack is adorable in every sense, not to mention an amazing value for what you get!

This set only costs $37.99, which is crazy considering it would be about $60 if you were to get each of these toys individually. If you're looking to get all these for yourself or your kids anyway (Christmas will be here before we know it), getting this pack is the way to go; no brainer.

Here's the back of the box showing everything you get. What an assortment!

And here's what it looks like upon opening. Everything is nicely sorted in baggies and the box makes a great storage container that I recommend keeping.

Let's start with a closer look at each of the minis all assembled. Aren't these just too hilarious and adorable? They're not only fun to put together and display, but kids will love mixing and matching pieces! I played with these with my six year old nephew and that was his favorite aspect. We had some good laughs.

Each mini is about 3" to 3.5" tall when assembled.

Both Buzz Lightyear and Duke Caboom have cool additional pieces that plug into their backs—Duke's cape and Buzz's jet pack/wings.

Ok, now for Hasbro's/Playskool's latest version of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. There have been many versions of these over the years and I'll start by saying these are absolutely some of the (if not THE) best and most movie accurate ones yet (a million times better than what was released for Toy Story 3). However, somehow there are still plenty of missing details and inaccuracies. They're on the right path though! It's just strange to me that after almost 25 years, they still haven't made a perfect replica of either of these characters (even the Signature Collection release by Thinkway Toys has its issues).

Here's a list of some of the most obvious problems that keep these from being 100% film accurate:
  • Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head's eyes are one piece, not separate
  • Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head don't have any eyebrow pieces
  • Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head's feet are one piece, not separate
  • Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head have an extra hole on their sides
  • Mr. Potato Head's shoes should be a deeper, more vibrant blue
Other than that, they should also be just a little bit bigger and the main potato piece shouldn't be different shades of brown (notice that Mr. Potato Head is darker?). Again, despite these problems, these are still by far better than most of the previous releases. Looks-wise, they're almost spot on. Anyway, that's my rant! Take a closer look below.

MR. & MRS. POTATO HEAD

Mr. Potato Head is about 7" tall and Mrs. Potato Head is about 7.5" tall (due to her shoes being a little taller).  The pieces are sturdy, hard plastic (some of the older versions' pieces were more of a soft plastic) and secure to the potatoes quite well. These feel solid all around once assembled.

What do YOU think of this set? It's a winner for me and I'm gonna go ahead and give this a huge recommendation.  See them all displayed together in my Instagram photo below! I just love how cute and colorful this whole set looks—so incredibly cheerful.

You can purchase this set on Amazon (direct link below) or Target's website HERE. If you don't want this entire set, you can get Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head separately (which I've also seen at Target). The Ducky, Bunny, Woody and Buzz minis are available in a 4-pack. Duke, Bo Peep and Forky minis had single pack releases. Here are all the Amazon links you'll need...

Toy Story 3: SDCC 2019 Convention Exclusive Funko "POP!" Chuckles & Mr. Pricklepants

toy story sdcc 2019 convention exclusives

Hey all! In addition to the amazing Up Carl & Ellie Funko "POP!" 2-pack released last month (as a "Summer Convention" San Diego Comic-Con 2019 / BoxLunch exclusive), there were also two Toy Story 3 inspired SDCC 2019 POPs as well—Chuckles (exclusive to Amazon.com) and Mr. Pricklepants (exclusive to Hot Topic)! These are some of the coolest (and cutest) Toy Story POPs yet; and luckily they were not nearly as hard to get compared to Carl & Ellie! In fact, they're both still currently available if you haven't picked them up yet.

Chuckles is #561 of Funko's collection of Disney "POP!" vinyls and Mr. Pricklepants is #562. Both of these characters look absolutely incredible. Beyond the fantastic sculpts here, some of my favorite details are the "Daisy" tag that Chuckles is holding (straight out of the film) and the entire backside of Mr. Pricklepants, complete with his little white tag detail! There's something just so cool with the way it was sculpted.

Take a closer look down below!

I believe these are the first Toy Story 3 specific Funko POPs since Lotso was released clear back in 2011. Pretty crazy! I sure hope we get more. There are so many potential characters in that film that have been left completely untouched by Funko.

As usual, these POPs stand at around 3.5" tall. Chuckles can be purchased using the Amazon link below (retail is $15) and Mr. Pricklepants can be purchase on the Hot Topic website HERE (currently on sale for just $10.50).

Let me know your thoughts below! Did you grab these for your collection? Which is your favorite?

Toy Story 4: Hot/Cold Stainless Steel Tumbler (from Tervis)

toy story 4 stainless steel tumbler tervis

Looking for an awesome looking, high quality Toy Story 4 tumbler? Look no further than this one from Tervis! This is a double-walled, 18/8 stainless steel tumbler that is copper lined and vacuum insulated— that means it can keep HOT drink hot for up to 8 hours and COLD drinks cold for up to 24 hours. Not bad, huh?A big thanks to Disney·Pixar and Tervis for this gift!

This particular tumbler here is the 20 oz version (about 7" tall) and retails for $34.99. You can also buy this same design in a 30 oz size, which retails for $39.99. This is not dishwasher, microwave or freezer safe, so be sure to wash it out by hand with simple dish soap and water. The leak resistant & easy-close lid is, however, dishwasher safe.

Once again, I love the stylized screen art here! The minimal, cartoony style is so effective and vibrant. If it looks familiar, that's because these are the exact same designs that are featured on the Happy Feet Zlipperz I showed off last night! As with the slippers, there is a huge variety of characters found here: Woody, Buzz, Bullseye, Bo Peep, Bo Peep's sheep, Forky, Duke Caboom, Dolly, Aliens, Jessie, Gabby Gabby, Ducky, Bunny, Combat Carl, Buttercup, Peas-in-a-Pod (even though they didn't appear in TS4), Rex, Hamm, Giggle McDimples and Mr. Potato Head.

And who's that? Here's that mystery Giggle McDimples-esque Pet Patrol dog character again! I'm so curious about this. How far into production did this character make it (before being deleted) in order for him/her to be included on some officially licensed merch like this? Below you can see the character concept artwork as found in The Art of Toy Story 4 book. UPDATE: The director of the film has answered me! This was a deleted character named Officer Rib Tickles—Giggle's beat partner. Learn more in this USA Today article HERE.

You can pick up this tumbler on the official Tervis website HERE or Amazon using the link below if you're interested. I highly recommend it if you're in the market for a new tumbler and want yours to be fun and Toy Story themed! I've already brought mine to work and it's been a big hit. It's a real eye catcher.

Toy Story 4: Buzz Lightyear Mix-N-Match "Zlipperz" Set (from Happy Feet)

happy feet toy story 4 zlipperz

Back in June, I introduced you to Happy Feet—a slipper company known for their unique and innovative designs for kids and families (you may remember them from Shark Tank if you follow that show). One of their coolest products is what they call "Zlipperz", the first zip on, zip off interchangeable slipper. Four tops and two bottoms are included in a set, which gives you up to three potential design combos by mixing and matching the four tops. Such a fun and creative idea! There are a bunch of Toy Story 4 designs; this just happens to be the set that was gifted to me during the Toy Story 4 press event I attended in Walt Disney World. A huge thanks to Happy Feet for sponsoring this post!

The tops in this set are adorable and I love the stylized designs. The ones seen above are so fun because they include SO many of the film's main characters in such a vibrant way! If you look closely, you can spot Woody, Buzz, Bullseye, Bo Peep, Bo Peep's sheep, Forky, Duke Caboom, Dolly, Aliens, Jessie, Gabby Gabby, Ducky, Bunny, Combat Carl, Buttercup, Peas-in-a-Pod (even though they didn't appear in TS4) and even tiny slivers (along the edges) of Rex, Hamm, Giggle McDimples and Mr. Potato Head.

The most interesting thing to me is that the above design appears to include a deleted character (seen in the Art of Toy Story 4 book below) from the film— what seems to be, a dog friend of Giggle McDimples? A fellow Pet Patrol officer, perhaps? This change to the film must have happened late into production for the character to end up on an official licensed piece of merch. Do you have any insights? UPDATE: The director of the film has answered me! This was a deleted character named Officer Rib Tickles—Giggle's beat partner. Learn more in this USA Today article HERE.

Anyway, onto the next tops; a much more straight forward, yet awesome, design of Buzz Lightyear!

happy feet toy story 4 zlipperz

Here you can see a little bit more about how these work. It's really quite simple though...the tops just literally zipper on and off the bottoms! They are very easy to change whenever you're feeling like mixing it up.

The base of the slippers are soft, squishy and totally comfortable (made from a foam material that really is like walking on pillows). Underneath you'll notice that they have convenient rubber/non-skid bottoms as well.

Here's a little demonstration video showing how easy these are to use!

The Zlipperz sets retail for $28. You can purchase this one (and many other designs) on the Happy Feet website HERE. They're available in toddler, men and women sizes—so much fun for the whole family! I can totally recommend these. And remember, Happy Feet also produces TONS of other Disney and non-Disney designs as well. If you like what you see, I suggest exploring their site HERE.

What are your thoughts? Have you picked up any slippers (or Zlipperz) from Happy Feet?

Up: Young Carl & Ellie Funko "POP!" 2-Pack (SDCC 2019 / BoxLunch Exclusive)

up carl and ellie funko pop review

Last month (July 18th) Funko released a bunch of Funko "POP!" vinyl figures exclusive to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and select retailers—each dubbed "2019 Summer Convention Limited Edition". One of the absolute best, not to mention most popular, sets released was this Up inspired Young Carl & Ellie 2-Pack; an absolute dream for us Pixar fans/Funko collectors! This was available at SDCC and BoxLunch Gifts (in-store and online). What was crazy is that it was so incredibly popular, that it sold out online within mere minutes! I jumped right on it when the link dropped and even I missed out on it. Crazy!

I wasn't about to pay nutty scalper prices, so I put it out there on Instagram that I was looking for help. I'm so grateful for a buddy of mine on there (THANK YOU AGAIN JUSTIN!) who answered the call and helped me get one at his local BoxLunch store the next morning! That was incredibly generous. He shipped it right to me and, well, here it is! My review.

Let's start with the box. It's fantastically designed and completely captures the heart, innocence and adventurous nature of these two characters. I especially love the grape soda pin design used for the backdrop of "2 Pack" in the upper right corner. I don't keep my Funko POP! boxes (space issues), so this one was a real tough one to throw away.

up carl and ellie funko pop review

And here they are out of the box! Are these not the cutest?? I can't even. I love the goggles on Carl, the "Spirit of Adventure" balloon and his adorable airplane flying pose—just like in the film! It's also pretty adorable that they included his teeny tiny grape soda "Ellie Badge"; although it's not entirely movie accurate since by the time Ellie gives that to him, he had already lost his balloon. Great detail nonetheless! I'm just so impressed with how detailed these Funko POP! sculpts have become, just look at Carl's hat for example.

YOUNG CARL

Young Ellie is equally adorable. Her holding the iconic "My Adventure Book", as well as her movie accurate pink bow, outfit, freckles and missing tooth, are all perfect details.

YOUNG ELLIE

As mentioned, this sold out very quickly—so unfortunately eBay is really the only way to go at this point! I can't recommend it enough though if you can swing it. You can check out current listings HERE using this direct link (sets are currently selling for around $70). Original retail price was $30.

Let me know your thoughts down below! Were you able to snag one of these 2-Packs? Which one is your favorite? Stay tuned as I'll be posting about the other Pixar SDCC Funko exclusives right here soon.

Note: Remember Vinylmations? Check out a similar 2-Pack that I got years ago HERE if you love young Carl and Ellie.
