Cars 3: Complete Funko "POP!" Collection

cars 3 funko pop collection

Yes, here I am posting on this [almost] three year old Cars 3 Funko "POP!" collection. Whoops! These kinds of posts take a bit of time, so this one would get pushed back over and over again. I'm just so happy to finally get this review up and cross it off my list! These originally hit stores clear back in May 2017, so they've been waiting to get featured for a while now.

Note: In 2015, Funko released characters from the first Cars film—so be sure to check out that post HERE before continuing on!

This Cars 3 collection includes seven characters, mostly consisting of Lightning McQueen varients and store exclusives. Here we have: Lighting McQueen (#282), Rust-Eze Racing Center Lighting McQueen (#282—Target Exclusive), Primer Lightning McQueen (#282—Meijer Exclusive), Fabulous Lightning McQueen (#283—Toys R Us Exclusive), Dinoco Cruz Ramirez (#284), Luigi (#285—Walmart Exclusive) and Guido (#286—Walmart Exclusive). Once again, Funko nailed it! These designs are perfectly stylized and look so good with all the other previously released characters.

Check 'em all out below! Original retail price for each one was around the Funko standard of about $10.

Dinoco Cruz Ramirez
It's hard to tell from my photo, but Cruz has a pretty great glitter paint job! That's one of my fave details.

Primer Lightning McQueen (Meijer Exclusive)

Rust-Eze Racing Center Lightning McQueen (Target Exclusive)
This McQueen, while still lightweight and hollow inside, is a harder plastic with a really cool chrome shine. All the other characters are Funko's more traditional "softer" vinyl material.

Fabulous Lightning McQueen (Toys R Us Exclusive)
Fabulous Lightning McQueen Toys R Us Exclusive Funko POP

I would love if Funko finished off the Radiator Springs "residents" by releasing Fillmore, Sally, Flo, Sheriff, Sarge, Lizzie and Red. And what about Cars 2? Yah, I know it's not the most loved, but it's technically the only Pixar film at this point that never got a single Funko POP release. Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, Francesco Bernoulli and Professor Z would look great as POPs and are on my personal wish list. What do you think?

If you're still looking to add these to your personal collection, you can find them on eBay HERE or Amazon using the direct links below (among other online shops). Let me know your thoughts down in the comments and be sure to share YOUR favorite and why!

Cars 3: Harvey Rodcap

Cars 3 Harvey Rodcap diecast review

I still have a bit more to go, but I'm finally feeling a bit more caught up with documenting my Cars collection. For tonight's blog post, I'm taking a look at yet another brand new Mattel 1:55 scale Cars 3 diecast...Harvey Rodcap! This character was technically available back in the fall of 2017 (in an online exclusive 10-pack), but this is his first release as a single. I'm so glad he got a wide release, as many collectors probably are who didn't fork out for the 10-pack a few years ago!

Harvey is part of the 2020 "Next-Gen Piston Cup Racers" sub-series (singles Case C) and just hit the pegs earlier this month. As shown in the screen shot above, you can clearly spot Harvey next to Cruz Ramirez during the climatic Florida 500 race. He is the next-generation racer for Easy Idle (No. 15) who replaced Carl Clutchen (who, in turn, had replaced Rudy "Easy" Oaks from the first Cars).

You can still find this one pretty easily in stores, so be sure to check your nearest Walmart or Target. If you'd rather just pick it up online, you can check eBay HERE or Amazon (direct link below).

Best of luck on the hunt! Let me know your thoughts down in the comments. Who's your favorite next-gen racer?

Cars 3: Shiny Wax Racing Tractor

Cars 3 Shiny Wax Racing Tractor diecast review

Tonight I'm taking a look at another really fun and unique Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast from Mattel...the Shiny Wax Racing Tractor! He was released not too long ago as a single in the 2020 "Tractor Training" sub-series (Case Y).

As shown in the screen shot above, the Shiny Wax racer (Conrad Camber) appears in tractor form when Cruz Ramirez imagines all of the Next-Generation Piston Cup racers as tractors during the climatic Florida 500 race. This is right after Lightning tells Cruz to "sneak through the window", which hearkens back to their training with Smokey in the field of tractors earlier in the film.

There are several more "tractor racers" coming soon, so stay tuned to my upcoming reviews (check out my previous post on the Rev-N-Go Racing Tractor HERE)! You can still find this one pretty easily in stores, so be sure to check your nearest Walmart or Target. If you'd rather just pick it up online, you can check eBay HERE or Amazon (direct link below).

Good luck on the hunt! Let me know your thoughts down in the comments.

Babies of Pixar!

pixar babies

Hi everyone! It's Dan's wife Brita (joined by our son, Aidan) and we're mixing it up a little with today's post! Since Aidan is six weeks old, it's only natural that he'd want to focus on his area of expertise— babies! Join us as we look at some of the babies of Pixar...

Tin Toy (1988)
I wasn't even born yet but, babies were already in Pixar as seen in this early short film. Although their animation techniques have improved, the cute and heartwarming charm of Pixar remains the same. Hopefully Aidan prefers his toys to their boxes, we will see!

pixar babies

Toy Story (1995)
Next up is baby Molly, she's allowed to play with toys labeled "3 and up" and gets to ride in the front seat of the van, but maybe this was before rear facing car seats in the back seat became the recommendation?

pixar babies

The Incredibles (2004)
Baby Jack Jack is definitely a super Pixar baby! I like how his powers highlight how much babies change and how volatile their mood can be- happy sounds can quickly turn into cries and shrieks. We're still waiting for Aidan's super power to appear, we'll keep you posted on that one!

pixar babies

Up (2009)
Technically there isn't a baby in Up, but I loved a related scene so much I had to share. Carl and Ellie are looking up at the shapes in the clouds, and suddenly, the shapes all turned into babies. That poignantly captured exactly how I felt when I knew it was time for us to have a baby!

Well Aidan says it's time to eat, so that's all for today! Let us know your favorite Pixar baby (and any we may have missed) down in the comment section.

Cars 3: Trainer Cruz Ramirez

Cars 3 Trainer Cruz Ramirez diecast review

Tonight I'm taking a look at another brand new Cars 3 Mattel 1:55 scale diecast release...Trainer Cruz Ramirez! Now I'm sure you're thinking "how is this new??". Trust me, I get the confusion. If you're at the store and didn't happen to read the name on the card, you could easily pass over this one thinking it's just a regular Cruz Ramirez diecast (the same one that's been released a million times). This almost happened to me, but then I happened to notice that her card actually says "Trainer Cruz Ramirez" and then I saw that she has her headset on— though it's on the side facing away from the bubble, so it's hard to spot. So yah, this variation could just as easily be called "Cruz Ramirez with Headset."

As shown in the screen shot above, Cruz is seen wearing her training headset when we first meet her in the Rust-eze Racing Center.

Cars 3 Trainer Cruz Ramirez diecast review

Though this is a super simple variant, I like that we finally get Cruz with her headset on. It's subtle details like this that go along way when building out specific scenes with diecasts and/or creating movie accurate dioramas (if that's your thing).

This one just started hitting the pegs a couple weeks back, so you should still be able to find her easily in stores at your nearest Target or Walmart (I seem to spot her almost every time I go out searching these days). If not, no worries! You can purchase her online by searching eBay HERE or Amazon using the direct link below.

Have fun out there and happy hunting! Let me know your thoughts or any questions you might have down in the comments.

Cars 3: Kurt

cars 3 mattel kurt diecast review

How's it going guys?? I'm back to document another brand new Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast... released just this past month, here we have Kurt (known by Stirling as "the bug guy")! This single is part of the 2020 "Rust-eze Racing Center" sub-series and is currently available in Case Y.

As shown in the screen shot above, Kurt (No. 012) is one of rookie next-gen "trainees" seen at the Rust-eze Racing Center and is actually one of the only featured trainees with dialog (he's the one that says to Ronald, "You're a cloud!" and then gets bugs sprayed in his face by Cruz as part of her treadmill motivation/training session).

Kurt here is brand new, so you should be able to still find him in stores at your nearest Target or Walmart (I see him almost every time I go out searching). If not, no worries! You can purchase him online by searching eBay HERE or Amazon using the direct link below. There's also a "bug teeth" version of him hitting pegs now, so I'm excited to find that one soon as well.

Have fun out there and happy hunting! Let me know your thoughts or any questions you might have down in the comments.

Toy Story: Pizza Planet Box Set Stance Socks Review

toy story pizza planet box set stance socks

Stance, known for their quality socks featuring bold and creative designs, is one of the hottest brands out there right now. If you're in the know with what's trendy these days in terms of style, you've probably heard of them! Especially since, in recent years, Stance added Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel collections to their lineup and even opened a full shop at Disney Springs Orlando in 2017. You can learn more about the company HERE if you're interested (Fun Fact: my cousin Taylor Shupe is one of the company's co-founders; just had to throw that out there and give him a shout-out!).

I was gifted this spacetacular Toy Story Pizza Planet themed box set (includes three pairs of socks and two exclusive pins) last year while attending the Toy Story 4 press event at Walt Disney World. I was completely ecstatic when I received this as this was something that had already been on my radar to purchase! I'm honestly not one who collects or wears flashy socks often (if at all), but these were too good to pass up—mainly because of the Pizza Planet pizza box packaging/presentation!

toy story pizza planet box set stance socks

The cardboard box is pretty big, measuring in at 13" x 13"— essentially the size of an actual [smaller sized] pizza box. It all looks absolutely fantastic.

toy story pizza planet box set stance socks

Open it up and you'll find the three included pairs of socks (Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Pizza Planet) and two exclusive pins (one featuring the Pizza Planet rocket and the other featuring three Pizza Planet Aliens and their iconic "OOOOHHH!", both with Mickey Mouse pin backs). And ready for one of the coolest parts? The pins AND Pizza Planet socks glow in the dark! As if this set couldn't get any cooler, right?

Check out the glow feature down below. Out of this world!

stance toy story pizza planet socks glow in the dark

These are classic crew style socks (so about 7" above the ankle) and are classified as "thin" on the "thickness" scale (meaning also that they're a close fit, lightweight and breathable). The material is a nylon blend (43% nylon, 31% combed cotton, 22% polyester, 3% elastane, 1% lurex). Retail price for the full box set is $80.00 (yup, pretty pricey), but let me tell you—these are the most comfortable socks you can get! I had heard the Stance hype, but wasn't a believer until I tried these on. You won't be disappointed.

This really is the perfect set for Toy Story fans and collectors. Be sure to pick it up while it's still available on Stance's official website HERE and let me know all your thoughts down in the comment section. A BIG thank you to ShopDisney and Stance for the gift!

Cars 3: River Scott

Cars 3 River Scott diecast review

Tonight I'm taking a look at another Cars 3 Mattel 1:55 scale diecast, a review I've been meaning to get up here for quite some time. It's River Scott, one of the Thomasville "legends" seen in the film! I've already documented Louise Nash and Junior Moon, so it's about time I complete the trio with River here (though I did review Heyday River Scott just a few days ago).

This diecast was released in late 2017 and could be found in several cases. The one I happen to have here comes with a "bonus collector card", but there was also a release with a mini poster/checklist, a release with both the card and the mini poster and, lastly, a standard version that didn't include anything extra.

As far as the diecast itself goes, everything about it looks extra great! Nice details, good looking sculpt/character likeness, perfect paint app and no complaints from me.

Cars 3 River Scott diecast review

His official bio reads, "River Scott came from modest beginnings, but he always made the very best of what he had. With seven circuit wins from the early 1950s, his unique body style made him a trailblazer in the Piston Cup. He was scrappy and improvisational, and wore his dents proudly as symbols of what he had been through. He was Doc's racing contemporary and friend, and loves to tell tales of the good old days."

Fun Fact: His character is inspired by the late NASCAR driver Wendell Scott.

While this version of River Scott isn't available in stores currently as part of this year's lineup, you can find him easily online at either Amazon using the direct link below or eBay HERE. Have fun on the hunt if you're still looking to add this one to your Cars collection!

Let me know your thoughts down in the comments. Do you have a favorite retro Piston Cup racer?

Cars 3: Rev Roadages

Cars 3 Rev Roadages diecast

Where my Cars fans at?! Tonight I'm taking a look at the Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast of Rev Roadages, the Vinyl Toupee sponsored stock car racer (No. 76)! He was released a couple years back as part of the 2018 "Piston Cup Racers" sub-series (available in singles Case A).

Rev is yet another one who's frustratingly hard to spot in the film. You can see him briefly during the beginning racing sequence of Cars 3, but the race cars go in and out of the shots so fast, he's literally a blur! As shown in the screen cap above, I was thankfully able to spot him in the background during a non-racing scene (though only from the side). Rev superseded Crusty Rotor as the Vinyl Toupee racer from the first Cars film, before being replaced by a [currently unnamed] next-gen.

Cars 3 Rev Roadages diecast review

Though this car isn't currently on store shelves at this point, you can find him online through eBay HERE or Amazon (direct link below). However, be warned—it seems as though his price has kind of skyrocketed as of late! I wasn't aware how rare this diecast became.

Anyway, best of luck on the hunt. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates from my Disney·Pixar Cars collection very soon!

Cars 3: Dino Draftsky

cars 3 dino draftsky diecast review

Tonight I'm taking a look at the Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast of Dino Draftsky, the Clutch Aid sponsored stock car racer (No. 121)! He was released a couple years back as part of the 2018 "Piston Cup Racers" sub-series (available in singles Case B and Case C; one version with and one version without a bonus collector card).

As shown in the screen cap above, Dino is another one who's frustratingly hard to spot in the film. You can see him briefly during the beginning racing sequence of Cars 3, but the race cars go in and out of the shots so fast, he's literally a blur! Dino superseded Kevin Shiftright as the Clutch Aid racer from the first Cars film, before being replaced by next-gen Noah Goceck (who I actually just found and will be reviewing soon).

Cars 3: Randy Lawson

Welcome back Cars fans! From Mattel, here we have another one of their newest Cars 3 1:55 scale diescast releases...Randy Lawson (racing no. 91)! He is part of the 2020 "Doc's Racing Days" sub-series and hit shelves just recently in Case Y. Gotta love these 1950's era Piston Cup racers; can't get enough of them!

As shown in the screen shot above, Randy can be spotted very briefly in the old Fireball Beach race video of Doc crashing (the one McQueen watches in his garage after his own crash). He was sponsored mainly by Sputter Stop, Never Tire, Re-Volting, and Catmull. I love the design and dark color scheme of this guy!

Randy here is brand new, so you should be able to still find him in stores at your nearest Target or Walmart. If not, no worries! You can purchase him online by searching eBay HERE or Amazon using the direct link below.

See you again right here real soon for another Cars diecast review! Have fun out there and happy hunting.

Cars 3: Rev-N-Go Racing Tractor

Cars 3 Rev-N-Go Racing Tractor diecast

Tonight I'm taking a look at a really fun and unique Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast from Mattel...the Rev-N-Go Racing Tractor! He was released not too long ago as a single in the 2020 "Tractor Training" sub-series (Case T).

As shown in the screen shot above, the [still yet to be named] Rev-N-Go racer appears in tractor form when Cruz Ramirez imagines all of the Next-Generation Piston Cup racers as tractors during the climatic Florida 500 race. This is right after Lightning tells Cruz to "sneak through the window", which hearkens back to their training with Smokey in the field of tractors earlier in the film.

There are many more "tractor racers" coming soon, so stay tuned to my upcoming reviews right here! You can still find this one pretty easily in stores, so be sure to check your nearest Walmart or Target. If you'd rather just pick it up online, I've included a direct Amazon link below.

Cars 3: "Slim" Hood

Hey Pixar Cars fans! From Mattel, here we have another one of their newest Cars 3 1:55 scale diescast releases..."Slim" Hood (racing no. 9)! He is part of the 2020 "Doc's Racing Days" sub-series and hit shelves a couple months back in Case T. Gotta love these 1950's era Piston Cup racers; can't get enough of them!

In Cars 3, "Slim" was sponsored mainly by Sludge Cola and the Plaza Supermarket. Unfortunately, even after a pretty deep search, I couldn't find where he appeared on screen in the film. Some photos online claim he's spotted in the old Fireball Beach race video of Doc crashing (the one McQueen watches in his garage after his own crash), but as I looked further into those shots, those photos are not of this character. Do you know where you can spot him? Let me know if you have any insights!

Fun Fact: He named after Pixar employee Sam Hood.

If you're having trouble finding this one in stores at your nearest Target or Walmart, no worries. You can purchase him online by searching eBay HERE or Amazon using the direct link below. See you real soon and happy hunting!

Cars 3: Heyday River Scott

Cars 3 Heyday River Scott diecast

For tonight's Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast review, I'm taking a quick look at an awesome release from early last spring...Heyday River Scott! This character was released as part of the of the 2019 "Doc's Racing Days" sub-series.

As shown in the screen shot above, River was seen this way (in his prime, or "heyday") during a Thomasville Speedway race flashback sequence towards the end of the film's second act. Smokey and all the Thomasville "legends" gather with Cruz and Lightning at the Cotton Pin Bar & Grill for drinks, while also sharing some stories about the glory days. River is briefly shown racing side by side with the Hudson Hornet, Louise Nash, Junior Moon and many other neat looking 1950's era Piston Cup racers.

While this version of River Scott isn't available in stores currently as part of this year's lineup, you can find him easily online at either Amazon using the direct link below or eBay HERE. Have fun on the hunt if you're still looking to add this one to your Cars collection!
