Another year older—and hopefully wiser too! This past Sunday I turned the big 'ol 28 and celebrated by throwing an Incredibles 2 themed birthday party (thanks to my AMAZING wife Brita who put in a ton of work!). Yup, still a kid at heart. No shame. Every single year since 2010, I've had a Disney/Pixar inspired birthday and have documented many of them here on the blog. Check out the "Birthday Party" label to view others I've done in years past, including Inside Out, Monsters University and more. Luckily for me, Pixar films usually come out in June— which means party stuff and merchandise are always around just in time!
Like usual, I held my party at my parent's house (the home I grew up in) since they have plenty of space to host my big extended family. Plus, who am I kidding, it's certainly nostalgic to have it there. You can see the front room when I first walked in above and the Incredibles 2 Jelly Belly beans below which were used as the party favors for the kids! I didn't even know those existed (they were a fun find on Brita's part), so that was a nice little touch to see.
By the way, I just wanted to note that Brita bought most (if not all) of the Incredibles 2 party decorations on the Party City website. So if you're planning one of these too and want some of this awesome decor, check out the full selection of goods on the site HERE. There's a TON of it!
Here's the epic main setup in the family room! Such an INCREDIBLE job. Just look at what she did with those balloons! Brita always gets super creative and I love what she did here. She had spent hours the night before setting all this up and blowing up/tying those balloons all on her own. It was a fun surprise to walk into since I hadn't seen what she had prepared before coming into the room. I like being surprised and not seeing the party prep while it's in the works.
Here's a closeup of this year's mantel. Just look at those balloons with the super hero masks, ha! Totally brilliant and something I wasn't expecting. You can buy those HERE.
And the new Funko POPs doubled as a gift and part of the decorations. Can't wait to write up my full post on those guys!
Read my review of the The Art of Incredibles 2 book HERE! That big Mr. Incredible toy is the 2014 Thinkway Toys talking superhero figure.
Another fun balloon! This one will be hanging out in my home office with me until it finally deflates.
Lots of Incredibles themed decor hanging on the walls and down from the ceiling.
I always enjoy having unique snacks at my parties with all sorts of appetizers that I love. I typically try to mix up the variety year after year and this spread was a particularly good one. YUM!
Deviled eggs. Always the first thing to go. Who doesn't love these things?!
Buffalo chicken dip. Another big hit! It's to die for.
Artichoke dip. A tasty classic!
I told you those Incredibles 2 Goldfish crackers would make an appearance!
Lots of fresh fruits, cheeses and crackers. And no party is complete (at least in my family) without M&Ms, onion dip and potato chips.
More dips and crackers. You'll see that mini Jack-Jack dipper crock pot in an upcoming post real soon!
One of my faves—sweet and sour party sized meatballs. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is.
Full post on the Pixar slow cooker HERE.
Brita made a delish sparkling pineapple lemonade! So refreshing.
Let's move on into the dining room and take a look at the main table setup! Love all the paper goods, which primarily feature Mr. Incredible and Dash—a couple of my favorite characters.
A few more details around here and there...
More on this game later! We did end up playing it after the cake.
Presents! Below are many of my future posts here on the blog ;) Such generous gifts from my entire family. From practical new home owner type stuff, to Solo: A Star Wars Story toys to Pixar/Incredibles 2 gear...I can't wait to share more of what I got with you you guys!
Time for cake. I've been having this strawberry cake at my birthday for as long as I can remember and, well, here it is again! This is something I can't seem to mix up or replace. It's just that good. Maybe someday I'll move onto something different, but I figure if it's not broke, why fix it? YUM.
After cake, some of my nieces and nephews and I played the "Place the Mask on Jack-Jack game"! I did not do so hot. Like embarrassingly bad.
And here we are after the game for our group photo with all sorts of fun Incredibles 2 props! Way to go. Yet another great touch that me and the kids had a blast with. I like to consider me to cool uncle.
Another birthday has come and gone...but it won't be soon forgotten! I can't express enough appreciation to Brita, my parents and all my family who made my day so memorable and magical. I'm so thrilled to share all this with you and I hope you enjoyed being somewhat there at my party through these pics.
