evil dr. porkchop toy story buudy pack
"That's Mr. Evil Dr. Porkchop to you."

After a decade, I finally added the Mattel Toy Story Evil Dr. Porkchop Buddy Pack figure to my collection! I found one on eBay recently and could not pass it up for the price (only $12 free shipping with a mint package—usually it sells for $30-$50). I'm thrilled about this one as it's been a whole in my collection for a long time. Check out my full, detailed write-up on the entire Mattel Toy Story Buddy Pack Collection HERE. I just updated it to include new thoughts and reorganized it to make the guide more clear. Enjoy!

Toy Story: Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver (By Mattel— Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive)

Toy Story Mattel Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive

I have been chosen! A huge thank you to Mattel for gifting me this super[nova] cute, brand new Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Toy Story this year. I feel honored to have received this product for free and thrilled that I have the chance to review it here for you all! I could not believe how fast this thing sold out. It was literally gone within just a few minutes after the link went live. So yes, I am eternally grateful.

This brilliantly executed figure was revealed on the "Mattel Creations" Instagram page on July 14th and dropped there to purchase on July 23rd as a "Comic-Con Exclusive" (since there was no actual Comic-Con this year) for $20. I knew right away that this was a must-have for me. Though I've been on the fence about collecting all of Mattel's Alien Remix figures (mainly just due to the lack of display room these days), I wasn't going to pass this one up. It was just too unique and awesome looking—plus limited/exclusive merch is always more enticing due to the chase. That's the collector in me! The collector in me is also a "completest", so you know what that means. Yup, now I'm going to have to snag Mattel's entire Alien Remix collection. ;)

Toy Story Mattel Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive

First of all, like usual, I have to give huge props to the team who designed the packaging. SO good! Mattel always has spacetacular packaging and presentation, especially for their con-exclusives. This box is inspired by what a Pizza Planet pizza box could have looked like if we had seen it on screen in the film. I love how on the back (seen below) it reads "Out of this world flavor" and "Lightspeed delivery across the galaxy" with the asterisk of "*Deliveries guaranteed in 30 minutes within the Tri-County area." Brilliant stuff! It's hard to tell in my photos, but take a closer look and you'll notice a bunch of fake "pizza grease" stains throughout the box as well.

The "Space Toppings" on the side of the box are so clever too! As someone who uses food puns in my work every day (I respond for Subway social media), I really appreciated the effort that went into these. Really fantastic work.

OooOOoooOOooo...check it out!! Ok is this not the coolest? If you didn't know, this figure even comes with a detailed cardboard Pizza Planet Truck (with plastic rocket) to really help take your Alien Remix display to the next level! The delivery driver figure comes displayed (and attached) inside the driver's seat, but can be easily removed.

Take a detailed, out-of-box look below! The truck measures approximately 9" L x 7" H (that's to the top of the rocket) x 4" W.

The trunk has a large open window and space for one (possibly two) Alien Remix figure to fit inside (it would be sweet if both Buzz and Woody could fit; I'll have to test it out). There are some fun printed movie accurate details as well, such as the tool chest, Pizza Planet cup and grape soda can. Lots of "grime" and "dirt" all over the truck too! Even the license plate/number is straight from the film.

Toy Story Mattel Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive

There is a clear, thin sheet of plastic on the passenger side window and the windshield. The driver's side window does not have any plastic. As mentioned, the rocket on the top of the truck is also plastic. I really like that touch.

Underneath the truck is a little perforated hatch. Pull this open and then twist off those two little doodads—that will release the driver from being attached to the truck.

Here's a closer look at the truck's "cockpit" (as Buzz calls it) once I removed the figure.

And here's the driver himself! He's seriously OUT OF THIS WORLD CUTE. I love his hat, little outfit (the fact that one side of the shirt is untucked is adorable) and the Pizza Planet pizza box he's holding. He stands just a little over 3" tall. Such a [inter]stellar design!

Toy Story Mattel Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Planet Truck Driver Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive

Well I think that about covers it, everyone. What do you guys think? Do you love this as much as I do? Were you one of the lucky few to snag one the day of release? If you missed out, no worries. Though not ideal, there are plenty of listings on eBay currently if you're willing to pay around $50-$60 for him. If you're a serious collector (and if you're collecting all the other Remix figures), I'd say this is totally worth it and a must-have.

Shout out any questions or comments you may have down below and be sure to stay tuned right here regularly for more from my ever expanding Pixar collection!

Pixar Ball Button from BoxLunch Gifts

Here's just a quick little something I picked up during my visit to BoxLunch Gifts last week—this awesome Pixar ball button! I had finished browsing the store, made my purchases and was on my way out when I spotted this. I had to grab it and get back in line as soon as I saw it because 1.) PIXAR BALL and 2.) it was only $1.99. How could I not?

When I got home I found the perfect spot for the button...doesn't it look great on the strap of my Pixar Playtime backpack?! I'm a fan.

Unfortunately none of the buttons you can find in-store at BoxLunch or Hot Topic are sold online. If you have a BoxLunch near you though, definitely check it out to see if they have this one in stock! There were a lot of cool designs, but this one was the true standout. Be sure to let me know your thoughts down below. Did you pick one of these up for your collection? Where do you display your Disney/Pixar pins and buttons?

Wall·E Inspired Ceramic Boot— Faux Succulent Planter (BoxLunch Exclusive)

Wall·E Inspired Ceramic Boot Faux Succulent Planter (BoxLunch Exclusive)

Wall·E fans— you ready for an awesome collector's piece? Check out this planter featuring a faux succulent and modeled after the iconic boot from the film; a BoxLunch Gifts exclusive! This was such a clever idea and I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to get it to help round out my home office Wall·E shelf. It fits perfect there and looks as good as I hoped it would.

Sure, do I wish the plant was actually modeled after the one seen in the film? Yah of course. But regardless, you get the idea here and it totally works. You can see this product and know right away what it is; most people will still go "hey, the boot from Wall·E!", especially since the boot itself is stylized just as it should be and there's at least some kind of green plant coming out of it.

Wall·E Inspired Ceramic Boot Faux Succulent Planter (BoxLunch Exclusive)

The boot is ceramic and the entire product measures 4 3/4" long x 6" tall (that's including the plant) x 2.5" wide. It's the perfect small size for a desk or shelf. Retail price is $19.90. I was excited to have found it in-store when visiting a BoxLunch in Maryland last week!

Check it out unboxed below.

UP: Paradise Falls Jug Ceramic Bank

Pixar Up Paradise Falls Jug Ceramic Bank

If you're visiting my blog, you've most likely seen Pixar's 2009 masterpiece, Up. And if you've seen Up, you probably remember the Paradise Falls savings jug seen briefly in the film's opening "married life" sequence (as Carl and Ellie attempt to save enough money for their dream vacation to Paradise Falls in South America). It's interesting how an object with such little screen time can become so memorable and iconic—that's the mark of a GREAT design!

Anyway, this animated "prop" has always stood out to me and I've always hoped one would get made in real life so I could display it with my other Up "props" on my home office Up shelf (along with my Grape Soda pin and "My Adventure Book"). Well, my wish has [basically] come true! While this isn't an exact replica (I'd say it's more "inspired by" the jug from the film), it's close enough and is actually the perfect size to display.

Pixar Up Paradise Falls Jug Ceramic Bank

The main differences compared to the film version are:
  • This ceramic bank has an iridescent finish instead of being clear glass
  • It appears to be much smaller here than in the film (this bank measures about 5 3/4" tall x 3 3/4 wide)
  • The handle is on the opposite side
  • The image of the Up house with balloons has been added here
Ultimately though, despite the differences, this bank looks fantastic and really captures the spirit of what you see on screen. Even though it's not a 100% match, you know exactly what it is right when you see it!

Take a closer look at this super pretty bank out of the box below...

This is available right now at Hot Topic (purchase on their website HERE) for $19.90. I actually got it in-store at BoxLunch, but it doesn't appear to be on the BoxLunch site currently. If you're any kind of fan of Up, I can't suggest this enough! It is such a cool display piece and a welcome addition to any Disney/Pixar collection. Be sure to snag it while it's available and let me know your thoughts down in the comments.

Toy Story: Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

*Santa's voice* YO YO YO! Merry Christmas in July!

It's the second most wonderful time of year when the Christmas spirit hits us mid-summer and Hallmark releases their first wave of Keepsake Ornaments for the year (next wave drops in October). I always look forward to this event and, of course, am always particularly interested in any new Disney/Pixar designs! So far this year we got Wall·E, Boo with Little Mikey, Bo Peep (Toy Story 4 version), Anger and [the best of the batch; what I'm reviewing today] the Pizza Planet Truck celebrating Toy Story's 25th Anniversary! In the fall, Hallmark will release Ian Lighfoot, Crush, Buzz & Woody and Jack-Jack vs. Raccoon.

I just got back from visiting my in-laws in Maryland and was lucky because these were released while I was there (on July 11th)! I say lucky because they live literally three minutes away from a Hallmark store. Sadly all Hallmark locations have closed in Connecticut near where we live, so it was a real treat. I had a blast visiting the store and seeing all the new releases in person, hearing the Christmas music and feeling the holiday magic! It was so much fun covering the event through my Instagram stories and sharing it with all you who follow me there.

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

This Keepsake Ornament has a "Magic Light" feature (AKA the Pizza Planet rocket lights up)! Scroll down to see that feature in action. Just add the three included LR44 batteries and then press the button on the top of the ornament to see it illuminate.

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

Here's the ornament out of the box! Isn't is fantastic?? This thing is perfectly designed and wonderfully detailed. Its size is 1.59" W x 2.16" H x 4.11" D, is made of a lightweight plastic and retails for $19.99. For those wondering, yes, the wheels do spin! Check it out below...

The signature YO, license plate and bumper sticker on the back are all here! No detail was missed.

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

Here's the Pizza Planet rocket illuminated! Magic indeed.

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck "Magic Light" Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Onament

We're not ones to put many Disney/Pixar ornaments on our Christmas tree, but I could not resist this one. It'll be my way of representing my love for Toy Story! I figure I'll put it somewhere more discrete, so it'll be like a hidden "Easter Egg" (just like how it appears in just about every Pixar film ;). For all you Toy Story fans who adore the films as much as I do, this ornament is a must. I can't recommend it enough!

If you don't live near a Hallmark store, no worries. You can still pick it up online on the official website RIGHT HERE. Let me know all your thoughts and any questions you might have down in the comments!

Pixar in Pins Collection by "Through the Doors Store"

Pixar in Pins Collection by "Through the Doors Store"

How great are these Pixar inspired pins from the amazing "Through the Doors" store on Etsy?? Tim, the shop owner, was nice enough to reach out to me and send me a few to add to my collection and review for ya'll, so a huge thanks and shout-out to him! Here's the breakdown of how his "Pixar in Pins" collection is organized:

Volume 1: Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo
Volume 2: The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall·E and Up
Volume 3 (coming fall 2020): Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University and Inside Out

As you can see, there's a pin representing each Pixar film (released in chronological order) with more to come I'm sure—all of which are brilliant original designs by Tim at "Tim Loves Disney"! I was sent the Toy Story and Monsters Inc. pins from Volume 1, as well as the Wall·E one from Volume 2. I could tell immediately upon opening the envelope that the pins were packaged up and shipped with tons of care and I could really sense the love Tim put into each of the designs. He obviously takes pride in his work.

Take a closer look at the pins I was sent down below! These are quality, hard enamel/metal pins and sell for $7.06. They're honestly as good as any official pin you could get at the Disney Parks! The shop is based in the UK, but they ship to the US as well.

One last big thank you to Tim for reaching out and sending these my way. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

"Toy Story" Print by Artist Dave Perillo (LE 125—Officially licensed by ArtLand Publishing & Disney)

"Toy Story" Print by Artist Dave Perillo foil

On December 6th, 2019, this absolutely TOY-riffic officially licensed Toy Story inspired print by Dave Perillo was released through Eyeland Prints UK! It was love at first sight, so I went ahead and put it right on my Christmas list. My parents came through and hooked me up! This is the "foil edition" print (printed on foil paper; hand-numbered limited edition 125), but there was also a standard edition print released that same day as well (hand-numbered limited edition 35). Both versions of the print are 18" x 24" in size and retailed for £40.00 GBP (about $50.00 USD). I was thrilled to have gotten this finally framed recently and was really excited to share it here with you all. Now I just need to find the perfect wall space.

Perillo's instantly recognizable, clean, minimal style is here in full force. I absolutely love what he did with the designs and colors—squeezing in a ton of iconic Toy Story characters from all four films into his signature colorful squares—with the Toy Story ball and Buzz and Woody front and center! It's absolutely brilliant and I cannot say enough good things. My LE number is 26/125.

Dave Perillo is one of my favorite pop culture artists out there. He has tons of amazing officially licensed Disney and Pixar art that you need to check out if you haven't already! To see more of his work, you can check out his portfolio on his official website. If you like what you see, be sure to hit him up on Instagram and Twitter as well.

Soul: Funko "POP!" Collection

pixar soul funko pop review

"What do you want to be remembered for?"

From Funko, here we have four brand new "POP!" vinyl figures inspired by Pixar's next film, Soul! As most of you probably know, the film was suppose to be released in theaters a couple weeks back (on June 19th), but was unfortunately pushed back to November 20th due to the pandemic. While the rest of the Soul toys, books and other merchandise were also delayed until the fall, it seems Funko chose to still release their Soul POPs on schedule as originally planned! I'm absolutely thrilled to have a little something from Soul this early while I wait for the film in eager anticipation.

Currently four of the seven common POPs have hit Amazon in the US: Joe Gardner, Joe Gardner (Soul World), 22, and 22 (Grinning). The rest of the collection—Moonwind (Soul World), Mr. Mittens and Mr. Mittens (Soul World)— should also be hitting real soon! A Barnes & Noble exclusive Special Edition Glow in the Dark variant of 22 will also drop there in the near future.

pixar soul funko pop review

Take a closer look at all these fantastic POPs down below! Maybe I'm too positive when it comes to Funko POPs, but man, they just never disappoint me. I love each of these and can't wait to learn more about these characters! The only thing I think is a little weird with this assortment is the "Grinning" version of 22— I mean it looks great and all, but it's just so similar to the standard 22 version that it seems a little pointless. The change in the facial expression is so, so subtle. But who knows? I obviously haven't seen the film yet, so maybe the grinning aspect will be significant or one of the film's gags?

I also have to note that I really like when POP figures come with a stand these days and was surprised that Joe Gardner didn't come with one. The soul version of the character comes with one, so why couldn't regular Joe? He does stand fine on his own without a base, but it just would have been nice to add that much more stability when on display.

The soul world characters make great use out of some translucent plastic and have some amazing  iridescent paint application. They look like little personified sunsets! The colors are beautiful.

UPDATE 8/07/20—
I'm back everyone with an exciting page update! The final three Soul Funko POPs dropped on the FYE website to purchase recently ($10.19 each) and you know I snatched them right up. Here we have Mr. Mittens, Moonwind (Soul World) and Mr. Mittens (Soul World). Three awesome looking characters who, interestingly enough, I know absolutely nothing about! Shout-out to soul world Mr. Mittens though for being absolutely hilarious looking. I'm really looking forward to this film and learning more about their roles.
