It's another late night over here after a busy day, so once again I'm going to keep this post short and sweet. Tonight I'm taking a look at yet another Mattel Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast that was released last year...Darren Leadfoot (you may know him by his sponsor Shiny Wax, No. 82)! Like a few of the other Cars 3 Piston Cup racers, this character first appeared in the original Cars. Yup, apparently this is still the same Darren Leadfoot (with the same number and sponsor; however with an upgraded look design wise) that was seen racing all the way back during the time frame of Cars 1. I guess after all these years, he's still going strong! See his original design and diecast blog post HERE.
Darren can be seen during the film's opening Speedway of the South race/montage, but is frustratingly hard to spot (like most of these racers). You can see him in the distance though in my screen shot above!
This one started hitting shelves last summer in case H and is only [currently] available as a single. He has shown up in more recent cases as well (from late last year), with some versions even including a bonus mini poster and/or collector's card!
Keep checking your local stores (Walmart, Target and Toys R Us are always good options) if you're still looking to add this car to your collection! It's possible he's still around. If you'd rather just spend a few more bucks and pick him up online, I included an Amazon link here as well.
