LEGO Speed Champions Cars Lightning McQueen

Ka-Chow! I'm super grateful to have received this Disney·Pixar Cars Speed Champions LEGO set from Pixar in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Cars and last week's Lightning McQueen (9/5) Day! I was eyeing to purchase this set anyway, so I was thrilled to see it included in the curated box that Pixar sent me. 

 

I also have the 2011 Cars 2 McQueen LEGO set (blog post from over a decade ago HERE), so I compared the two below. As you can see, this new 2026 McQueen (inspired by the original Cars this time around) is much smaller. Interestingly, this set is 270 pieces while the Cars 2 version only has 242 pieces (and that includes the included Luigi build, plus flag). 

I was super proud of my six year old son Aidan, who built this whole thing all by himself and applied all the stickers—which there are a lot of. This is a 9+ set! I will say, he's a big LEGO fan and has some serious building skills. Plus he's SPEED, just like McQueen himself! He built this thing faster than fast, quicker than quick. 

And here it is —the final result! This thing is awesome. 

I found the perfect spot for it on my Pixar shelf in my home office. I love it! If you're looking to add this LEGO McQueen to your Pixar/LEGO collection, you can currently find it at Target, Walmart, Amazon, The LEGO Store and basically wherever LEGO products are sold. Retail price is $27.99.
