Toy Story: 25th Anniversary Light-Up Space Crane Snowglobe (ShopDisney—Limited Edition)

 

Alright, double prizes!  

This past November marked the 25th anniversary of the original classic, my personal favorite Pixar film, Toy Story. With that came some really cool commemorative merch—including this absolutely stunning ShopDisney Exclusive Limited Edition Light-Up Space Crane Snowglobe! It seriously makes an amazing display piece in my Pixar home office and I'm thrilled to have this iconic moment captured here in snowglobe form. You know I love anything Pizza Planet!

This is a resin/glass, fully sculpted snowglobe with a light-up jet ''booster'' base; limited edition of only 2,500 made. And that's not all—shake it up to see a floating squadron of Aliens (rather alien shaped glitter) surrounding Buzz and Woody! The globe measures about 10" tall x 5.5" wide and requires 3 x LR44 batteries. Original retail price was hefty $149.99, but oh so worth it.

Take a look at all the wonderful details down below! There's honestly not one negative thing I can say about this; it's beautifully made, the character sculpts are spot on and everything looks and feels quality overall. I loved the look of it online, but seeing it in person is something else.

It's hard to tell as it was difficult to photograph the little alien shaped glitter (it moves very quickly once tipped or shaken), but you can kind of see it in the photo below. It's a fun little bonus.

The light-up feature is where it's at though—check out how amazing it looks! That is the icing on the cake and takes this globe to a whole other level. 

 

This snowglobe has long since sold out on ShopDisney.com, so unfortunately, your best bet to track one down is on eBay (see all current listing HERE). I'm super grateful to my parents who got me this for Christmas a few weeks back. It will definitely end up being one of my most "prized" pieces! Cars 3: Will Rusch

Welcome back to the blog! Just a couple days ago, I mentioned that I feel like I've posted on a seemingly endless amount of next-gen racers since the release of Cars 3 back in 2017—whelp, I'll say it again cause I got yet another one for ya tonight. Just yesterday I found this brand new 2021 release of Will Rusch (the Vinyl Toupee sponsored racer; No. 76) at my nearest Target! As usual, this is a 1:55 scale diecast from Mattel.
 

This is the very first time this character has ever been released, so it actually is a pretty exciting one (plus he's particularly cool looking). As shown in the screen shot above, Will can be seen during the film's climatic Florida 500 race. He replaces the Vinyl Toupee sponsored racer [stock car] Rev Roadages.

There are 34 next-generation racers total and, after a little research, it looks like I do have most of them at this point (it appears I'm just missing six). If I'm able to get the remaining racers this year, it'll have been four years in the making to complete the whole next-gen lineup.

Toy Story: Buzz & Woody Q-Fig Max Figurine by QMx (Disney Store/ShopDisney Exclusive)

Ready to take your Toy Story collection to new heights? Check out this infinitely adorable Toy Story Buzz & Woody "Q-Fig" figurine by QMx—a Disney Store/ShopDisney exclusive celebrating the film's 25th anniversary! This is such a cool item I was lucky enough to receive for this past Christmas. I absolutely love it. 

You might think this is a larger item, but actually this little collectible is only about 4" tall and roughly 4" wide. Honestly though, as someone who's running out of space to display new pieces anyway, I appreciate how compact it is while still packing a ton of amazing detail and fun stylization. I was drawn to the design immediately and knew right away that this was one of those "must-haves". Kudos to the team that brought this one to life! 

First off, check out the sweet packaging (thought it was neat how it opens).

And here it is unboxed! For those wondering, the figurine is not resin, glass or ceramic—it's simply a PVC materiel, but I'd still consider it fragile (despite featuring toy characters, this really isn't a toy). For the adult Toy Story fan like me, I gotta say this is absolute perfection! It certainly reminds me of a much smaller version of the big ol' Buzz & Woody light-up sculpture I have. 

Take a closer look! Retail price is $39.99. Yes, that may seem a bit much for something this small, but trust me when I tell you it's so worth it. I'm so excited to finally have some time this week to find the perfect place to display it.

Cars 3: Caleb Worley

Hey all! Not gonna lie, I love when I've just found a bunch of new cars and get to share them on here. It seemed to have been a while (releases really died down toward the end of 2020), but with the new year usually comes a plethora of new diecasts and an updated packaging design—and that's proven true once again. 2021 is starting off strong! Anyway, tonight I'm sharing another really neat brand new Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast from Mattel...Caleb Worley! This character just hit shelves not too long ago as part of the 2021 Singles Case C.

As shown in the screenshot above, Caleb can be spotted very briefly (honestly you can barely see him and he drives by in a blur) in Cars 3 during the Thomasville Speedway race flashback. He is one of the old school Piston Cup racers (No. 3) from Doc's racing days in the 1950's and is sponsored by All Good Auto Parts, King Bowling Alley, Re-Volting and Dinoco.

I really dig any and all retro style Cars characters, so this one was a big win for me. I hope there are more cars from "Doc's Racing Days" coming later this year! Do you know of any?

Cars 3: J.D. McPillar

Hey everyone! I'm back once again this week with another quick look at one of the latest Cars 3 1:55 scale diecasts from Mattel...J.D. McPillar, the next-gen Tow Cap sponsored racer (No. 4)! This single was just released as part of one of the first cases of 2021, but the character was originally available as part of a rare 2018 Target exclusive "Next-Gen" Racers 4-Pack (which also included Barry DePedal, Steve "Slick" LaPage and Flip Dover). I'm glad he finally ended up getting a single release since I never found that 4-Pack!

As shown in the screen shot above, J.D. can be seen up close and personal during the film's climatic Florida 500 race. He replaces the Tow Cap sponsored racer [stock car] Jack DePost.

I've honestly lost track of how many next-gen racers there are, how many I still need to purchase and how many still need to be made. It's not a bad thing, but I feel like these releases have been going on for forever—just when I think I have them all, another one comes out! Out of curiosity, I definitely need to assess my collection of next-gens and see where I'm at.

Cars: Lizzie (w/Radio & Bumper Sticker)—"Welcome to Radiator Springs"

Late this past summer, I posted about some new Target exclusive Mattel Disney·Pixar Cars diecasts that were released as part of an unexpected (at least to me as they weren't on the official 2020 poster) "Welcome to Radiator Springs" series. At the time, there were six single cars in this little side-series (each of which comes with a brand new/unique bumper sticker and a neat little character specific accessory): Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen (with video phone), Blowing Bubbles Mater (with hay bail), Sally with Tattoo (with dinner table), Ramone (with oil can), Doc Hudson (with Piston Cup trophy) and Sheriff (the only one with no accessory). You can see them all HERE. A "Welcome to Radiator Springs 4-Pack" (with Sarge w/traffic cone) was released at that time as well. 

Flash forward to early fall and a second "Welcome to Radiator Springs" wave hit with three additional characters—which was just as surprising as the first! It featured Fillmore (with organic fuel gas can), Lugi & Guido 2-pack (with tires) and this here Lizzie (with radio)! I was able to find these at Target a little while back. Now I certainly didn't need to pick up yet another Lizzie diecast, but I'm a sucker for any kind of extra accessories for world-building. This radio was only ever released in THIS 2016 "Radiator Springs Friends" 11-Pack and was not included with the Precision Series Lizzie's Curios Shop playset.  

I'm so happy Mattel decided to re-release this radio in a $4 single pack for all of us collectors (that includes me) who didn't fork out for that $40 11-pack four years ago. I was sure tempted and almost bought it several times, but never actually did. I guess you could say my patience paid off, though I honestly never expected to see this radio make a comeback (especially outside of a multi-pack). It was such a pleasant surprise! Now my Precision Series Radiator Spring Curios Shop playset will feel that much more complete/movie accurate when I set it up for display. To me, this is an essential component.

BoxLunch Disney·Pixar Soul Haul—PJs, T-Shirt, Socks & Funko POP! (BoxLunch Collective)

Wow, it's already been almost a year since I became a part of the "BoxLunch Collective" Brand Ambassador Program! The socks and pajamas are soft and comfortable, the t-shirt fits perfectly and you know how much I love Funko POPs. I should also mention that I really like all the minimal graphics as well—it's all pretty simple and nothing feels too over the top (just how I like it).

Events: The Disney Store Soul Merchandise Release—IN STORES NOW!

I'm a little behind the times here (since these Soul items dropped at the Disney Store and online in late November), but I couldn't miss doing this post even if it was late. If you've been following along with me for a while, you might know that I have a tradition here on my blog where I document the Disney Store merch release (the in-store setup) for every new Pixar film! I’ve been doing this since 2013– starting with Monsters University— and have loved archiving each display. It’s a bit of history to look back on! This tradition began years ago when I was searching online for pictures of older Disney Store merchandise/displays from some of my favorite Disney and Pixar films. I wanted to reminisce, but couldn't find hardly anything pre-Wall·E...so I began doing this for myself and for anyone like me who may be looking for a post like this down the road (I know I can't be the only collector who enjoys looking back at old merch setups to remember what it looked like and what products were available). Maybe you're coming across this post years from now looking to take a trip down memory lane like I had been trying to do. Who knows?

This is the 10th post like this that I've done. So far since I started this blog, I've done this for Monsters University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Cars 3, Coco, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, Onward and now Soul.

Soul (I'd say for certain) holds the record for the smallest selection of merch available for a new Pixar film. I can't think of any other film that had less stuff than this (if anything, Up could maybe be a contender). Consequently, it's also the smallest display. It's understandable though (and I figured it would be the case), since Soul isn't really a very marketable film when it comes to toys and merchandise in general. Besides a couple plush, a few clothing items and an ornament, there's nothing much to report here if you've already seen what's available online. I'm actually surprised not even a classic style Disney Store figurine set was made! Honestly though, like I said with Onward, it's actually kind of nice to have a smaller and less overwhelming amount of merchandise—very manageable for us collectors.

I also want to note that there were a couple items that my Disney Store never got, such as the Mr. Mitten plush and Mr. Mittens (soul form) mug. I've included an image of both those items below (from their official listings on ShopDisney). You can see the full range of Soul products on ShopDisney HERE.

Disney·Pixar Sleeper In Organic Cotton (by Hanna Anderson)

In late August of this year, Hanna Anderson (known for their hand-me-down quality children's clothing) released an incredibly cute line of Disney·Pixar PJs for little ones. Included in the collection are designs inspired by literally all my top favorite Pixar films—it's like it was made with me and my little Pixar trainee in mind! Toy Story, Monsters. Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars and Coco are all represented, with the addition of one pattern (which I'm showing here tonight) featuring a whole bunch of colorful, adorably stylized characters from across all of Pixar's golden age films. This is our personal favorite, but we seriously love them all! My parents were generous enough to buy us each design and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Each pair of pajamas originally came in many sizes, ranging from 3-6 months all the way up to size 12. Retail price for this particular pair was $42.

Toy Story Santa Alien Popcorn Bucket (Disney Parks—2018)

OoooOOoo...THE CLAUS! 

Tonight I'm feeling festive and wanted to share with you this hilariously adorable Toy Story Santa Alien popcorn bucket, given to me recently as a surprise by one of my Disney Store cast member friends (thank you so much Sara)! This novelty popcorn bucket was available at Disney World's Hollywood Studios back in November 2018 and originally retailed for $25. I don't believe it was ever available at Disneyland/California Adventure, but correct me if I'm wrong.

The bucket is about 10" tall x 12.5" wide and features a convenient carry strap. Just fill it with your favorite popcorn by opening up his mouth and enjoy!

This is a silly little item, but if you love Toy Story, Christmas and popcorn buckets, what's not to love!? While this bucket is long gone, you can still find it easily on eBay using this direct link to current listings.
