Cars 3: Dive Charaters Three-Pack (From SwimWays) Review

Cars 3 pool toys Dive Charaters Three-Pack SwimWays

Just released by SwimWays (the ultimate in pool toys, games, floats and more), here we have their brand new Cars 3 Dive Characters Three-Pack! This is one of the first mainstream Cars 3 products to officially hit stores in the US and I was thrilled to find it at my local Target just last week.

With summer well on its way (it was 83 degrees here in CT just a couple days ago), pool time, fun in the sun AND the third Cars installment are often on my mind; so naturally I just had to pick this set up when I saw it! I've always loved loading up on new pool toys at the beginning of the season—combine that with a brand new Pixar film coming up and I'm sold.

These are the very first toys I own of [Cars 3] Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm (which is yet another reason this was a must have). Plus last year the Finding Dory Dive Characters I purchased were such a hit with my nieces and nephews that I'm sure they'll have just as much fun with these ones in the coming months. I'm excited to share these with them when they come over to swim.

These cars are just a little over four inches in length (you can get a sense of scale with my hand below) and are, according to the package, "soft and flexible." Though actually, they're not very soft OR flexible. I guess you could say the plastic material used is sof-TER than a solid hard plastic, but I'd call it more of a hard rubber. That's not a con, just throwing that out there as an FYI. You'll also notice two holes on the back of each car (obviously to help the characters sink faster in the water).

I also wanted to note that McQueen is loaded with paper stickers (which could potentially be a con). That'll be interesting to see if they survive once we start playing with him in the pool. One would think they'd peel off pretty easily at that point right? I guess that is yet to be seen.

The character molds here are spot on. They look really fantastic! I do have to point it out though and wonder...why is Jackson Storm's paint job such a light grey? Even my four year old nephew pointed that out without me even mentioning it. Again, not a con— just interesting! Regardless, kids will have a great time diving for and retrieving these characters, whether it's for swim practice or just for fun (heck, they'd also be fun to play with/display outside the water as well). I personally can't wait to bust them out again come June when our pool opens!

As usual, you can pick this set up at Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Amazon (direct link below) or wherever Cars 3 pool toys are sold. Retail is $9.99. For young fans of the Cars films, especially those who want to mix up the old diving stick routine in the pool, I can't recommend this pack enough. If you haven't already, be sure to snag it next time you spot it.
