Hello everyone! Following last night's YouTube "unbagging" video (added to this post below), today I'm giving you my full write-up and additional thoughts on the brand new Mattel Toy Story "Minis" blind bags SERIES 4— featuring Rocket Buzz Lightyear! I was actually really surprised to stumble upon these at Walmart this past weekend. I had no idea a new series was even released! I was just doing my normal browsing in the toy section and almost didn't even notice that these were new (since the packaging/characters are almost identical to series 3). I had to do a double take and then noticed the new Rocket Buzz Lightyear special edition figure on the corner of the display box!
Unfortunately that Buzz is the only new mini figure in this entire series. All the others–Hamm, Woody, Bo Peep, Trixie, Bullseye, Slinky, Alien, Wheezy, Zurg, Sarge and Buttercup–have all been previously released. That's kind of a bummer, but it probably means a bunch of new characters will be introduced in series 5! Plus this Buzz is really cool, so it's all good.
I had some good luck finding this one as it was only the second blind bag I picked up and felt! I knew right away it was him because of the shape and then confirmed by looking through one of the tiny holes under the back flap. His blind bag code is L5.
Let's take a look at this little guy out of the bag!
Buzz stands just over an inch tall and retails for $2.99. I like his unique action/running stance and cute smirky expression!
Of course the rocket attached to his back is based on Sid's "The Big One" (it is not removable). Though the shapes and colors are accurate, it would have been cool if this had the logo/graphics on it. With that aside, the translucent yellow flame is definitely the best part. Such a cool detail that really makes this figure feel like a "special" edition.
