In celebration of Pixar's Onward being released this week, I thought it would be fun to review the Cars character named after Dan Scanlon —the director of Onward (as well as Monsters University)—Van Scanlane! This is a Deluxe size 1:55 scale diecast vehicle from Mattel and was released in 2018 as part of the "Dinoco 400" sub-series (Deluxe Case K).
As shown in the screen shot above, Van is an RV super fan seen at the Dinoco 400 race at the very beginning of the original Cars. You can spot him next to Doug RM and Larry Camper. RV characters are always fun releases with great detail, so it's awesome to have another one as part of my collection!
FUN FACT: Dan Scanlon is also connected to the Cars franchise in a couple ways; he was a story artist for the first Cars film and co-director of the short film Mater and the Ghostlight!
