This fall, the original Toy Story will celebrate its 25th anniversary! Can you believe it? Mattel is joining in on the celebration by continuing their successful Toy Story 7" action figure line (which debuted last year with Toy Story 4 and even won a Toy of the Year Award), now with packaging sporting a Toy Story 25 years 1995-2020 graphic. To start off this new 2020 Toy Story figure assortment, Mattel has released three "Character Moments" packs featuring three classic characters with accessories to recreate their most iconic scenes (not only from the films, but shorts and TV specials too)—Rex, Woody and Buzz Lighyear!
Starting things off with Rex here, I'm absolutely thrilled with this release. Mattel really threw us diehard Toy Story fans/collectors a bone here by including accessories from Toy Story 2 (his Buzz video gaming helmet), Toy Story Toons: Partysaurus Rex (his viking helmet) and Toy Story That Time Forgot (his mechanical arms)! The Rex figure himself is the same as last year's release, but the unique accessories here make buying this set totally worth it. The Partysauraus Rex helmet has got to be my favorite since that's one of my all-time fave Toy Story Toons! I never thought we'd get that in figure form. Well done Mattel.
And if you were wondering, yes Rex does come with the rest of his tail. It's included underneath the base of the packaging.

Next up, Woody! Again, this is the same Woody figure that has been release numerous times within the last year, but now he comes with his Woody's Roundup Guitar from Toy Story 2 (the one he's seen holding when Al is taking pictures of him), his lasso from Toy Story 3 (the one he uses to catch One-Eyed Bart at the start of the film), and the kite he finds and uses to try and escape Sunnyside in Toy Story 3. SO much fun!
WOODY
Last but not least, we have Buzz Lightyear! While his body appears to be the same as the previously released Buzz figure, his head sculpt is brand new. Buzz comes with Sid's iconic THE BIG ONE rocket that he gets strapped to in Toy Story, the "standard issue" utility belt worn by the imposter Buzz in Toy Story 2 and a Space Ranger gun (not seen in the films, but inspired by the blaster held by the animatronic Buzz at the Disneyland Astro Blasters ride seen HERE).

How cool are these? They're honestly so much fun. As a toy fan, I say the more accessories and playsets to recreate movie moments the better. Packs like this are right up my alley! Sure, I wish I didn't have to get repeats of these characters in order to get the new pieces, but that's just how collecting goes sometimes. As of right now, I've only seen these available on Amazon for $14.99 each (direct links below). However they could hit mass retailers (Target, Walmart, Kohls, etc.) very soon as well! A huge thank you to Mattel for sending these my way so that I could share them with you all.
