Cars: Murray Clutchburn (Sputter Stop)

My Disney/Pixar Cars collection continues!

Today we have the Mattel 1:55 scale diecast of Murray Clutchburn, better known by his sponsor Sputter Stop (No. 92). This character has been released a couple of times over the years, but this particular single pack release is from the 2013 "Piston Cup" sub-series (#15/18).

As shown in the screenshot above, Sputter Stop is briefly seen in the film's opening Motor Speedway of the South race. He is one of the 36 race cars competing for the Piston Cup.

While Sputter Stop isn't available in stores currently as part of this year's line up, you can find him easily online at either Amazon or eBay (among others). Have fun on the hunt if you're still looking to add this one to your Cars collection!

Cars: Piston Cup Pit Stop (Story Sets)

Note: I'll be mainly repeating my thoughts from my other Cars Story Sets posts, so if you read those, you're probably good to just skip to the pictures here!

Ever since I was a kid, I loved playsets and accessories to go along with my different collections of action figures and other toys. I always had so much fun being able to re-create my favorite scenes from my favorite movies and that love for diorama building continues with me today.

The new Disney/Pixar Cars 1:55 scale "Story Sets" collection from Mattel is a great collection of playsets (comprised of ramps and launchers) based on key locations and moments from the film...so naturally I was instantly drawn to them!

This Story Set, Piston Cup Pit Stop, is a cool and well designed little launcher based on the memorable climax from the movie when Doc Hudson, as well as others from Radiator Springs, surprise Mcqueen by showing up to be his race team/pit crew.

It took about five minutes to assemble this set and includes sticker decals that you need to apply yourself.

Features-
Pull back launcher to lock in place, place car on the base and press the button to send the car speeding away to win the Piston Cup! You can also raise or lower the Radiator Springs team flag, tip the Dinoco gas can to "fuel up" and press the lever on the crew chief stand to rock the car (it simulates "cheering", as the directions say).

Gudio can slide from side to side as well (he's plastic and non-removable).

This launcher also connects to other ramps and launchers in this series, including the Cozy Cone Spiral Rampway (which I reviewed HERE), the Highway Hideout Launcher (reviewed HERE) and the Tractor Tippin' Launcher (reviewed HERE).

At $7.99, I feel like this set is extremely well priced. For its size, I was expecting it to be more around the $15 range, so I was pleasantly surprised!

This will go great with my other Cars Radiator Springs playsets (especially the Piston Cup 500 Track Set), so I'll be excited to set them all up together soon. If you're a Pixar Cars fan and/or collector, then I definitely recommend this set and the others in this series. It's loads of fun for sure. Find it at any store (Walmart, Toys R Us, Target, etc.) or online at Amazon or eBay!

Cars: Brush Curber (Fiber Fuel)

My Disney/Pixar Cars collection continues!

Today we have the Mattel 1:55 scale diecast of Brush Curber, better known by his sponsor Fiber Fuel (No. 56). He was released just last year as part of the 2014 "Piston Cup" sub-series (#13/16). From what I understand, this was the first single pack release of this character apart from the rubber tires version that was released years ago as a Kmart exclusive (this release has the standard plastic tires).

As shown in the screenshot above, Fiber Fuel is briefly seen in the film's opening Motor Speedway of the South race. He is one of the 36 race cars competing for the Piston Cup.

If you're still looking to add this character to your Cars collection, be sure to head to Amazon or eBay for the best deals.

The new Disney/Pixar Cars "Story Sets" collection from Mattel is a great collection of playsets (comprised of ramps and launchers) based on key locations and moments from the film...so naturally I was instantly drawn to them!

This Story Set, Highway Hideout, is a cool and well designed little launcher based on Route 66 and Lightning Mcqueen's chaotic entrance into Radiator Springs. It really captures the scene!

It took about five minutes to assemble this set and includes sticker decals that you need to apply yourself.

Features-
After you press the button to launch Mcqueen from the base, you can lift the platform behind the sign to send Sheriff in pursuit. You can also tangle Mcqueen in the telephone wires just like in the film and lift and close the gate.

This launcher also connects to other ramps and launchers in this series, including the Cozy Cone Spiral Rampway (which I reviewed HERE).

Events: Cars Drive-In Movie Party 2012

disney cars drive-in movie party

In August 2012, my sister decided that she was going to host a "Drive-In" for all of my nieces and nephews to watch Cars in her backyard. The movie would be put up on a projector screen, candy and popcorn would be served and the kids would sit in their very own homemade cardboard cars.

Creating and painting the cardboard cars was the first step. All my nieces and nephews came over to my parents house one afternoon for the project and I had the opportunity to help my little nephew Luke make one that resembled Lightning Mcqueen (well, we tried).

That next weekend we headed over to the movie event of the summer at my sister's house where everyone got to enjoy Cars and the snacks as planned! Everyone's cars turned out great- super cute!

Something like this takes some time and planning, but I can't recommend it enough for a classic summer night activity! If you have a family (or neighborhood) with a bunch of kids, this is sure to be a hit. All my nieces and nephews loved it- heck, so did the adults! It was really fun; great memories.

If you're looking to do this as well, there are plenty of family blogs on the web to help out with tips on creating the cars and setting up.

If you have any questions or comments here, please feel free to contact me! Thanks so much for dropping by and be sure to check back daily for more of my Disney/Pixar merch and memories.

Monsters Inc: Disneyland Mike Wazowski Keychain

mike wazowski disneyland keychain

This past week in Disneyland, as a big Pixar collector, I of course was constantly on the prowl for any cool, new and/or unique Pixar merch during my time at both parks. While I can't say much stood out this time around, I did see this simple little Mike Wazowski keychain in most of the gift shops there at Disneyland. I thought it was pretty cute and I kept seeing it over and over again; so, given that it was only a couple bucks, I decided to just go for it!

I figured it would continue the Monsters theme on my key ring, since I also have the Monsters University class ring keychain on it currently.

Mike here is made out of a light foam material and sells for around $2. If you're going to Disneyland and would like to pick up one of these for yourself, you can find him in virtually any of the shops there. I purchased this one in the main Adventureland store.

Thanks for dropping by today's post and be sure to check back daily for even more from my Disney/Pixar collection! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Cars 2: Hudson Hornet Lightning Mcqueen & Sally 2-Pack (Date Night)

From Cars 2, here we have the Mattel 1:55 scale diecast release of Hudson Hornet Piston Cup Lightning Mcqueen and Sally- a movie moments 2-pack! Though I own both of these characters already, I of course needed this set for the small table accessory to complete "the scene."

In the film, this moment happens early on when Lightning and Sally go on a romantic date at the Wheel Well Motel.

These cars are numbers 4 & 5/ 11 of the 2013 "Wheel Well Motel" sub-series.

If you missed this release, be sure to check online at either Amazon or eBay for the best deals!

Cars: Tubmbleweed Lightning Mcqueen

For the past week, my wife and I have been having an absolute blast in Anaheim, CA going to Disneyland, California Adventure, Downtown Disney and Star Wars Celebration. I've gotten some fun new merch, have met some amazing new friends and have had a magical and memorable time overall.I'm looking forward to sharing all of our incredible memories with you in an upcoming post.

Anyway, now onto why you're here...today's write-up! My Disney/Pixar Cars collection continues with Tumbleweed Mcqueen. This one was available in multiple series in years past, but it hasn't had a re-release in a while. As usual, this is a 1:55 scale diecast from Mattel.

Mcqueen appears this way in the film after failing to impress Doc Hudson with his dirt racing skills.

If you're still needing to add this one to your collection, be sure to check online at Amazon or on eBay for the best prices. Good luck on the hunt and let me know if you have any additional questions or comments!

From Mattel, here we have the Disney/Pixar Cars re-release of Lightning Mcqueen with cone! This 1:55 scale diecast was released as #3/5 of the 2013 "Lightning Mcqueen" sub-series, but it had also been released in multiple series before this one as well.

As shown in the screen shot above, Lightning appears this way as he comes crashing through Radiator Springs after getting lost from his truck Mack.

This one isn't available in stores currently, but I would check out eBay or Amazon if you're looking to add this one to your collection. Good luck on the hunt!
