In the last 13 years, Mattel has released more versions of Mater than I could ever count...so what's one more? Today I'm looking at the new Cars 3 inspired 1:55 scale diecast of "Mater with #95 hat", part of the 2019 "Florida 500" sub-series.
In the film, Mater is actually never seen wearing this 95 hat (which you would think would have been during the Florida 500 race as the series name suggests). However, as shown in the screenshot above, Mater is seen next to the hat as he puts it on top of a car junk sculpture he makes in his junkyard. This moment is right before Mater gets a late night "FaceTime" call from McQueen; so all in all, you could say that this diecast is half-canon.
As with most of the newest Cars diecast releases from Mattel, you can find this one currently at Walmart or Target—though of course availability does vary by location. If it's easier for you, I've also included a direct Amazon link below.
