Toy Story Pizza Planet Pizza Maker Review (National Pizza Party Day!)

Toy Story Pizza Planet Pizza Maker Review National Pizza Party Day

What's going on everybody!? Did you know that this past Friday (5/15) was National Pizza Party Day?? It's true—you know there's a day for everything these days thanks to social media holidays! If you missed it, mark your calendars for next year 😉🍕. To help my family and I celebrate this time around, Disney·Pixar/ShopDisney sent us this spacetacular Toy Story 4 Pizza Planet Pizza Maker from Select Brands and a Pizza Planet cap from Concept One Accessories! My wife and I could not have been more excited to bust this thing out and give it a whirl. I've actually been interested in getting this for a while now and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect Friday date night at-home dinner and a super fun start to the weekend!

Note: You can view my Instagram story highlights HERE if you missed them.

This pizza maker can cook frozen, ready-made or handmade pizzas. We wanted to go all out and make them homemade, since we hadn't really ever made pizzas before. We love to cook and do a lot of it, but making pizzas is certainly not one our specialties. We've found, through all this, that it does take a bit of practice; mainly in regard to rolling/stretching the dough and getting a perfect round, even shape.

Once the pizzas were assembled, cooking them was the easy part—thanks to how simple this pizza maker is! Literally all you have to do is plug it in, wait a couple minutes for the maker to heat up (the ready-light will illuminate green), place the pizza inside on the none-stick surface and close it up! The entire pizza is cooked to golden perfection in only about 20 minutes or less. I didn't really know what to expect with this being our first time and all, but I was so impressed! Cooking times will vary depending on the thickness of the pizza, so be sure to check the guide within the instructions for what's suggested.

The maker fits up to a 12'' frozen pizza or an 11'' hand-tossed pizza with rising crust.

For our pizzas this time we decided on these ingredients (all from Whole Foods):
  • Rao's Pizza Sauce (SO good)
  • Terranova Pizza Dough
  • Fresh mozzarella
  • Italian Sausage
  • Pepperoni
  • Onion
  • Olives

For whatever reason, we had a hard time shaping our dough for the first pizza...we're total noobies! This was our first homemade pizza after all, but I feel like it shouldn't have been that hard (even with flour, it kept tearing and then we'd have to roll it back up and start over; it looks so easy watching pros do it on YouTube, ha!). We considered this first one practice (joking that it was done on purpose to make a festive "asteroid" shape) and did a bit better with the second pizza. The most important thing though is that it tasted AMAZING and that the pizza maker did its job so well! I couldn't believe we got pizza restaurant flavors and textures so quickly/simply. Making sure to get fresh, quality ingredients makes a big difference as well.

Here's the Pizza Planet hat that was sent along with the pizza maker! I felt like a true Pizza Planet employee wearing this while cooking up these pizzas. My little Aidan liked wearing it too!

Now onto rolling, topping and cooking the second pizza. The shape was a step up from the first one (still not perfect, but much better) and the taste was just as delicious! So overall, I think this one was a bigger success, especially with the addition of the onions and olives.

Here it is cooking away (about half way though).

And below is the final product! YUMMM. Seeing these photos again makes me want to get going on more pizzas ASAP. I'm excited to experiment with new flavors next time (I'm totally feeling doing a homemade Hawaiian). It's said to also be great for quesadillas, nachos, dessert pizzas and more!

So should you pick one of these up for your kitchen? If the pictures don't make it obvious enough...YES! I can absolutely recommend this pizza maker to any Toy Story fan and hope some of you decide to check it out/test it for yourself. You can purchase it on ShopDisney HERE for $49.95. If you've already picked this up and have any thoughts on it, be sure to share them with me down in the comments. Lastly, you may also want to visit Disney Parks blog for some creative recipes to help get you inspired.

Bon Appétit! One last huge thanks to Disney·Pixar for sending this generous gift my way. Until next time. 😁
