Another year, another Pixar themed birthday party! I can't believe how fast time passes. Ever since my 23rd birthday in 2013 (right around when I started this blog), I've made it a tradition to theme my party with whatever Pixar film is coming out that year. Luckily for me, the films are usually out by June; which means most of the stuff is always out just in time for my special celebration on May 27th.
My party in 2013 was Monsters University, 2014 was The Blue Umbrella (since there wasn't a full length feature that year), 2015 was Inside Out and this year, of course it goes without saying, was Finding Dory. We knew this was coming for a long time, so my thoughtful and loving wife Brita had been planning this for months. She WAY outdid herself once again! A huge thanks to her and my helpful parents for making the vision come true.
My wife and mom took the reigns and planned everything behind the scenes (even though I did try to bud in with a few ideas once in a while). For the most part, I wanted the final product to be a surprise! It's always so fun walking into a party and seeing everything transformed without really knowing much of the planning process. Note- if you have any questions on anything we purchased or made for the party, just shoot me a comment or email and I'll be happy to give out any info.
My day was a pretty typical work day until I got home and everything was just about ready for me to check out. That's when the birthday magic began and it really couldn't have gone any better. Here's what I saw when I approached the house upon getting home. How could this not bring out the excited kid in me?
All the details and work that was put into the party left me in awe. From the mantle, to the table, to the themed party snacks, to the Dory colored balloons...everything was perfect! Check out everything up close below-
Brita prepared so many yummy treats! I love how she went with a beachy/summer fun sub-theme to go along with everything Dory. You can see one of my favorite snacks towards the right middle of the table below; it was a festive chocolate chip cookie dough type dip with a layer of graham cracker crumbs on top to resemble beach sand.
The Dory colored custom M&Ms were another super fun touch. Along with the other traditional party snacks (like chips, onion dip, pretzels, etc.), Brita also threw in some fun fishy type snacks too! She included gummy octopus, s'mores Goldfish, gummy sharks and the official Finding Dory Goldfish. The kids loved this stuff!
Oh and these sweet and sour meatballs? Out of this world.
Blue "ocean" punch...it was a big hit (just stir in white grape juice, white cranberry peach juice, Sprite, blue Kool Aid and top with vanilla ice cream).
These were the adorable party favors my mom and Brita put together for my nieces and nephews to take home! Inside were some fun Finding Dory bracelets and glitter putty...also a big hit.
Of course I wore one of the bracelets throughout the party too.
The Dory and Marlin Tsum Tsums came to be a part of the festivities.
Dory and her long lost parents, Jenny and Charlie. Reunited at last.
Hank, Dory and Nemo...just hangin' out ;) You'll notice Crush and Bailey joined in on the fun too!
Everyone, especially my Pixar mega fan nephew Noah, loved the Hank plush in the giant clam shell surrounded by "bubbles." What an awesome detail!
Note the "bubbles" are just mini clear balloons found at Party City.
The cute new Finding Dory tee Noah is wearing can be found at Target (currently also online HERE).
Nemo's school teacher, Mr. Ray, has been spotted!
Our themed shirts! Brita's wearing the new Finding Dory Disney Store otter tee and I'm wearing my "Mr. Grumpy Gills" tee from Disney World. More on those soon with individual posts.
Present time.
Brita picked me up this Mr. Incredible husband birthday card! Such a great find (currently at Target).
All my nieces and nephews drew me super thoughtful Finding Dory themed cards. Here's one drawn by my nephew Kent! He's so good.
What a night. What a party! Again, a huge thanks to everyone involved who made this party spectacular for me. It was yet another big success in my book and the memories will stay with me for years and years to come!
Now bring on the movie. Hopefully I like it ;)
