For tonight's post, I'm taking a look at this Cars 3 1:55 scale diecast 2-pack from Mattel, featuring Gabriel and Aiden! This set was released a couple years back in the 2018 "Rust-Eze Racing Center" sub-series. I love that in this 2-pack, BOTH cars are never before released characters.
In the film, Gabriel (No. 049) and Aiden (No. 003) are two rookie next-gen "trainees" seen at the Rust-Eze Racing Center. Both of these cars are some of the only featured trainees with dialog. As shown in the screenshots above, Gabriel is the homesick car that Cruz motivates during the treadmill training session by showing him his hometown of Santa Cecilia (a Coco Easter Egg), while Aiden is the trainee that drives past McQueen while he's hanging upside down (he says "how's it hangin' drip pan?).
I just have to note that it's fun having an "Aiden" car, since that's my son's name (though we spell is "Aidan"). I bet he'll think that's kind of cool someday!
