Back in the spring of 2017 (right before Cars 3 products hit), Mattel released five 1:55 scale diecast "Deluxe" size semi truck characters from the original Cars—all Toys R Us exclusives under the "Radiator Springs Classic" banner: Gil, Paul Valdez, Chet Boxkaar, Jerry Recycled Batteries and, my blog post tonight, Ben Crankleshaft! This week I'll be taking a long overdue closer look at each one of them.
As shown in the screenshot above, Ben is seen very briefly (and only with his eyes closed) when Mack points out all the sleeping trucks to McQueen while driving on the highway to California. Talk about blink and you'll miss him!
Ben was also released as a full hauler over a decade ago (2009 or 2010 I believe), but I missed out on that one when it was originally available and now prices for it have skyrocketed. This release was the next best thing! Did you pick this one up or any of the semis that hit Toy R Us a couple years back? Let me know your thoughts and look for more right here soon.
