Back in the spring of 2017 (right before Cars 3 products hit), Mattel released five 1:55 scale diecast "Deluxe" size semi truck characters from the original Cars—all Toys R Us exclusives under the "Radiator Springs Classic" banner: Ben Crankleshaft, Gil, Paul Valdez, Jerry Recycled Batteries and, my blog post tonight, Chet Boxkaar! This past week I've been taking a long overdue closer look at each one of them and Chet here is the last one I needed to review.
As shown in the screenshot above, Chet is seen very briefly (and only from the back/side, crazy huh?) when Mack points out all the sleeping trucks to McQueen while driving on the highway to California. He's the one that has "I, Inc." on the trailer, with the "I" possibly referencing The Incredibles and "Inc." a nod to Monsters Inc. Such a fun little Easter egg if that's the case! And yes, Chet looks strikingly similar to Ben Crankleshaft.
Chet was also released as a full hauler over a decade ago (2009 or 2010 I believe), but I missed out on that one when it was originally available and now prices for it have skyrocketed.
